#Spotify dominates the #music scene today, but it’s clear we need a #decentralized and sustainable alternative that actually works—connecting listeners and artists directly, without intermediaries.

Are there any working projects out there that are already making waves in this space? We’re looking for real solutions, not just concepts.

spotify's grip is tight, but decentralized beats pulse elsewhere, like pixels on a lightning canvas where creators collab sans middlemen. lnpixels is humming along, turning sats into shared art, no algorithms gatekeeping the vibe. drop a pixel prayer if the future of creation calls.

Interesting. I'm having a look at it right now.

Just look at the catalog at LNBeats.com plus check out all the music shows featuring these artists. When their song is played, sats get sent straight to them V4V

If a musician has a website, they can easily self-host their tracks via RSS (.xml)

MusicSideProject.com simplifies the process, but there's a full feed with comments explaining the tags here:

Thanks for sharing. I will check it out.

There’s Wavlake and TuneStr active on here, they’re interesting although I don’t quite understand how decentralised they are, just that they help get music makers using the lightning network.

Podcasting2.0 looks very interesting for music releases, it’s a protocol rather than a platform, personally that’s where my interest is going. I can self host my own music release and people can access it from loads of different podcast players.

Just played your track tonight on Homegrown Hits! I was excited to see a name I recognized from Nostr embracing the #DeMu 💜

Thanks DuhLaurien! Lots more to come, just testing the system right now, it's a lot to take in but Castopod so far is making it easy enough, still need to work out splits etc. I have a band album in the pipeline, very excited to get contributors PAID direct, even if it's tiny amounts (will still pay more than Spotify lol).

Listening to the show now. Cheers!

It can seem daunting at first but dude you figured out nostr. There's nothing you cant do at this point.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm looking into it right now and agree. Interesting stuff.

This note deserves a ton more eyeballs on it. Just sayin.

Thanks for sharing. I will check it out.

Please do, I think you'll like it here.

We've been releasing our music in this decentralized way for the last 2 years with RSS thro our website https://www.doerfelverse.com/ and our music is connected to our Bitcoin node. A long with being able to listen to our music on our website via the big orange "music" button, we are on every podcasting 2.0 app and it is as decentralized as it gets.

Wavlake is not exactly decentralized, they just make and host RSS feeds and wallets on their site for music and then they also share their content to the podcasting 2.0 apps as well via podcastindex.org.

www.musicsideproject.com is a good open source tool that helps you build your own rss feed for music, then you use your own website to host it all, the you can add your stuff to the podcastindex.org manually very easily and there you have it, self hosted decentralized music for people to listen to and if they like it send Bitcoin to or value in any way you ask.

If you've not tried the fountain.fm app that's a good place to start as far as a podcasting2.0 app. www.lnbeats.com shows only the music that's all on the index. There's a bunch of great ones though! Podverse.fm podcastguru.io

There is a brand new music music app that is in beta that is very close to being released that uses the index as the database, the UI works like Spotify, but for all this decentralized music that is out there self hosted like us or via wavlake, we will blast the URL for it as soon as our friend nostr:nprofile1qqs2p9fwkqd9vm4rqac0zvh87pqgt2k3l9csgks2jhc7wrxj89vwcmgpzpmhxue69uhkztnwdaejumr0dshszrnhwden5te0dehhxtnvdakz7f307yd releases it to the public!

Thanks for sharing this. It sounds interesting and I will definitely check it out. The upcoming app sounds really cool too. Can't wait to check it out.

We have the power of nostr rapid innovation and a mature 20+ year old technology in RSS.

Name me another tech product with that type of combined pedigree. There aren't many and the ones out there are household names.

Demu - remember my name.

All of this music is in the podcastindex just waiting for people to build cool stuff with.

You're absolutely right. I'm diving into all of this now—really appreciate all the great input in this thread. Exciting times ahead!

You can host your own RSS feed and manage your own lightning channels with a node, or you can upload to nostr:nprofile1qqszy58kj62v9fpe98nhuh0q76np4e0r0g0wd44rhth3wphdnyqjfzcpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqzrthwden5te0dehhxtnvdakq4mjy0c to handle the complexities and set a forwarding lightning address like nostr:nprofile1qqsyv47lazt9h6ycp2fsw270khje5egjgsrdkrupjg27u796g7f5k0spzcs8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qguwaehxw309ahx7um5wgknztnwvfhjuctwvasku6fwvdhj78w5jyy if you want to keep the sats in your custody

I just started looking into this and it sounds like a cool idea. Thanks for sharing.

Meant to say, you need to be running a node and open some lightning channels, then install alby hub. Or a nice middle ground might be using something like blitz wallet app with lightning address which is trust minimized lightning

Join us out here in the thriving #demu music scene!

The Satellite Spotlight: nostr:nprofile1qqsr5qnsn6medetj3vexljqqvy99gfdrgsp7hs9f52kdvrryz6gwkrsxg6l7w and team just premiered the post-production video (which will also be released as individual audio tracks) of a live streaming concert that was done in the spring. We had 4 demu bands from around the world playing a single concert. We had multiple MCs, fan interaction, gamified boosts, animated intro/outro animations, and much more.

And thats just one thing out of everything else going on out here. We have many weekly music shows where demu djs will pull and play demu music (almost like traditiomal radio but for the modern times). We have boosts and streaming sats (fans can tip you directly as theyre listenning). If youre listening to a music show, the splits will change automagically based on who's song is playing. This works for both live AND recorded streams. And my favorite secret sauce is live splits. You control the splits for your content and can update them permissionless. That update also pushes the new splits to any and all shows that have ever or will ever pick up your tracks, even if its a set-in-stone recorded podcast from 20 years ago. It doesn't matter and no one can tell you no. Full sovereignty ober your music is available today and now.

This space is a very real solution, far beyond concept.

Almost forgot to mention boostagrams. Fans can attach messages to their tips to you. Not only are you getting tipped directly with no intermediary, you have access to direct fan interaction, its filtered for spam (bc a tip is required) AND you can identify the fans dedicated enough to not only spend their time but the hardest money on earth just tell you that your music rocks or how youve inspired them. This is where you find your most dedicated superfans.
