Who needs non-Bitcoin content?

Non-bitcoiners presumably 🤷‍♂️

After bitcoin wins, we’ll need other things to talk about

Amazing content. She has huge following on Twitter. Glad she’s here as well

We create it…

Dan, I feel like you’ve been doing your part for some time already! Respect. 🫡

Thank you. I keep my content raw and unpolished as The best time to post is now, I have a loose content ideaolgy but this is the true digital me.

The real secret is to share what you find cause I hope others will enjoy the same things I do. Real pfps don't convey realatablity content does.

Better discovery tools.

Onboard new communities (e.g. targeted advertisement for their particular community, help with onboarding, etc).

There is no bitcoin content but it's nostr this and that related content 😂.

From time to time there are some new accounts with non bitcoin content appearing but no-one interacts with them so they fly away...

Yeah I’ve seen that. We are passionate about one thing more than anything else eh

Onboard more people. Find the community that clicks the most for Nostr at this point.

I have noticed a significant drop in acitivity this year. All went to:

I rarely if ever post about bitcoin or nostr. Still new though so maybe in a year when I still have no friends I’ll leave. lol. But I search tags and the followers of other accounts to find content I enjoy interacting with.

What kind of content do you enjoy?

Art/design, food, bits of news, product development, satire, ultra running ( no runners have been found:), nature…..

Sounds good. I too like design 🤗

Woah ultra running. Should I even consider myself a runner? I have only done half marathons.

Talk about something other than bitcoin 🤣 🤣 🤣

Let’s do it!

Hello 👋

FFA

You can follow me 🤣💪

Deal, but only if you stop asking people about lightning wallets in their profiles 🤣

I think we need more writers in Nostr, like people building audiences on whatever it is they are writing about. They in turn may bring their audience and non-Bitcoin content

Taibi was here but no1 followed it seems

Yes - I look for DIY, Maker and homestead/landowner content all the time to follow and engage with. Would love to find it here eventually vs Reddit.

We create it

Let’s go!

Copy cat lol

lmao great minds

Everyone has their own personal interest - just be willing to share! 😃

What are yours?

Everything is still very dispersed. There is a lack of a sense of belonging. But we’re doing well, I think.🤙🏼🟣

that probably depends on the individual. I personally feel a very strong sense of belonging.

Whether it is true depends on the person and whether he feels in community or not. In some countries there is almost no one.

Make it easier to sign up. Build more apps

was signup difficult for you?

I thought it was easy enough with alby. I think the lack of password recovery/customer support drives some away. Responsibility is tough. Many don't even get to the signup part

find some way to remind or encourage people to use hashtags.

Either that or some sort of fuzzy search

#grownostr

Doesn’t keyword search work?

Built a better Nostr app; one that goes well beyond chat and can actually challenge the UI/UX of something found in web2

Definitely trying over here but still pretty limited engagement so it feels like I’m just throwing stuff into a black hole sometimes 🕳️🤣

Yeah

Is there a way to look for Spanish speaking communities or people?

Puedes buscar con el hashtag #hispano algunos estamos por ahí 🤙🏼

¡Wepa! Some use #hispano.

Wepa eh notado que hay varias máquinas de bitcoin en PR

¿ATMs? Sí. Carísimas pero potencialmente anónimas.

¡Gracias!

Hey nostr:npub1ntvx3yt4w8495dxq9nfwkvzu53f2vulpfvhw8pkzhtnf3ed7693sh8s7r9 this should assist you.

Thanks Dan!

No problem, would recommend following who they follow, as it will help populate your feed then prune as needed

Warpcast got channels, here it’s kind of a single feed only with option to be separated by hashtags it seems or within certain clients

Then just attract the people who talk and share about other things

Quite complex problem tbh

What’s the difference between channels and hashtags?

I'm a comic book artist, if you want to see art and comics related posts, give me a follow!

The Nostr community really does need to be a lot more diverse content-wise.

Getting people tired of twitter shit over?

lol keep promoting nostr while mentioning b!tc01n on other social media it ONLY attract b!tc01n3rs to nostr, it too late, no normies will ever come to nostr

Much of the non-bitcoin content i see comes from bitcoiners. Maybe that is just what i want to see. How do we get more non-bitcoiners on here?

Many of my friends have just become acquaintances over the last couple years. I get asked if I have Facebook. I respond with have you read the terms of service. They will say "I'm not reading all that" but give me crap for not being on there.

I'll try to post more non-bitcoin stuff, but it will likely be tangential to bitcoin to some extent.

Algorithmic feeds that give weightage to zaps in addition to reshares and likes to rank and curate content.

That would promote discoverability and incentivise people to post more on Nostr versus other platforms as it means not only more eyeballs, but also more sats.

That would be full of bitcoin notes 😂

I'm not sure valuing "zaps" as a metric would achieve the goal of reducing the percentage of Bitcoin-related content, since the ones using Bitcoins are also the ones zapping and getting zapped. This seem like it would just make the problem worse.

Perhaps, yeah.

Algorithmic feeds was what I was pitching. Different clients could implement them in different ways and compete with each other. I'd personally gravitate towards the one that values zaps as a metric.

People can zap themselves so that metric is a bit useless.

Yeah you're right. I always hit that roadblock when I try to make a case for zap-based content curation.

Is there no workaround to it?

There may not be any workaround based on popularity, but that is not to say there can't be a way to show interesting content to the user.

nostr:npub1ghzp7g0peac4lfkeegst3cqz546dk7a5n6twazvrf3nd432yddaqa3qtwq maybe he can do a no-bitcoin filter

Make it easier to find.

The people who produce and enjoy that sort of stuff usually aren't following the Very Big Accounts (they don't know or care WHO those people are, or they simply find them irritating) and they often don't zap or boost, they just *like* or reply.

Also, their replies are often nested, which makes them irrelevant to trending algos.

> they often don't zap or boost, they just *like* or reply.

That's not necessarily an issue.

I'm skeptical of the idea that monetary incentives work better than these kinds of social incentive, which are part of what social media are for.

Consider Reddit and Hive. Hive (one of the few with this name) is a blockchain used for social networking which gives people monetary incentives. Reddit only gives you Reddit karma.

While Reddit has become worse for different reasons, I think one reason Reddit was better than Hive is precisely the fact that posts were not made for monetary incentives.

The problem is that Nostr trending lists and algos generally focus on counting zaps and boosts.

It's hard to design a trending algorithm because likes can be faked.

Monetary transactions can also be done to oneself trough fake accounts, of course, but I guess they are considered to be more reliable.

A cleverer solution is needed.

Obviously a cool aspect of Nostr is the fact that anyone can build apps on it, so it's absolutely possible that someone will figure it out.

All very good points. I too was wondering about this because a lot of the time I come on and its all bitcoin this or bitcoin that. I get it, but not that much that I want my whole feed spammed by it.

I like to see the more normal posts of peoples day to day lives, how they’re feeling, what they’ve done/achieved that day etc.

I think we’d get a lot of diverse merch and merchants if someone connected a print on demand service like “printful” to nostr.market #nostrmarket

Zap harder

Following the advice I gave yesterday...

We can invite good cooking women
