I use damus on macos, ios. notedeck on linux+nixos and android.

Apple has a nice integrated hw/sw ecosystem (airpod, airdrop, continuity framework, audio handoff between all my devices & tv). Their m2 chips are an amazing platform.

I also have a hardcore linux freedom stack when i need it (bitcoin node, lightning node, etc).

Best of both worlds. You don’t need to fight every battle. nostr:note12k4qm5qvsntvsduynetfm77w0p8yuk084sten33qnyqxap2hrzzsk0s37y

Great answer. People hate on iOS and Apple products like it’s the only device Apple enjoyers use. It’s actually best to separate privacy devices from personal use devices instead of keeping everything on one piece of hardware.

Well said

Incremental pressure is what results from compromises in morality. It's only specific metadata...it's just location metadata...it's just ID metadata...it's just a measure for the bad people...why am I being labeled a bad guy?

This is why you either fight every battle or have an alternative to a controlled system.

MacOS is fine. Apple is fine in general. It's just iOS that is the problem. Using it perpetuates the centralized control we are all fighting against.

It’s a super slick & convenient ecosystem. I know I’ll have to vacate at some point and I’m semi prepared for that. But in the meantime it’s very nice getting the kids to bed, retreating to the couch with wife to watch something on Apple TV and hook up our AirPods so kids don’t wake up.

Apple's ecosystem works well together because it's closed and they control every aspect of it.

the hand normally drops the mic bro, not the other way around

the mic dropping the hand doesnt make quite as much sense 😂

It's Nostr, we gotta keep it weird.

indeed. Touche ser

It does though actually, cuz one would say “mic drop” not “drop mic”

True. In words, but not in the physical action

Unlike nostr 😆 tradeoffs

😂

I tend to agree. I remember when I first switched to Apple. No more goddamn drivers to install and hoping they worked. And yes. Running linux for certain things fulfils the other stuff for me.

Apple makes incredible products, I also love and use Linux, no harm in using both, or pick your poison 🤷‍♂️

Based 🫡

Asahi Linux (Fedora) runs surprisingly well on M2 chips

Hows gpu support though, that was the only thing holding me back. When i learned it was being developed by a cat egirl i didnt know what to think

Not great, OBS is basically unusable for long periods

Yes they're LGBTFQM+ mastodon maxis over there, the driver was pretty good for my usage. I think it even conforms to the Apple spec

I'm on MacOS because Android development on arm64 Linux is basically impossible

I just got done running Fedora and on my m1 and got about half the performance. Really just depends what you’re running on it. OBS on Asahi was atrocious

Mr Will, I’m having issues with Damus. Perhaps you can help. For some reason I’m not getting any notifications 🔔 I am getting them on Wherostr Any ideas 💡 IPhone here

What version of damus are you using?

Hi Vanesa 1.10.1 (1) f92509fd i’m gonna have to eat some of my words because I am now getting my notifications. I don’t know what the issue was. Perhaps it was an outdated version BUT now my profile picture and username or display name or whatever isn’t showing up so I don’t know what’s going on. It does show up on other clients though.

Well glad to hear you’re getting notifications…I see your PFP etc. I feel like this might be a known bug tho nostr:npub1zafcms4xya5ap9zr7xxr0jlrtrattwlesytn2s42030lzu0dwlzqpd26k5

It might be. I was talking to someone else and they were having the same issue with their profile. Appreciate ya’

🎯

you don't need to dismiss people who are fighting the battles you aren't

lol i dont use android & linux cuz i dont desire headache

I use both ecosystems, but Apple's integration is insanely good. 🫡

Please consider porting Damus to Linux. https://www.swift.org/blog/adwaita-swift/
