I just found out how to turn my Fidelity 401k into FBTC.

Why not regular Bitcoin? Because that’s all I’m allowed to do in a 401k.

Why didn’t I do it earlier? Because there was a process to create a brokerage acct and link it to my 401k.

I was also waiting for a dip, and decided this was it.

And I’m a Bitcoiner!

The ETFs are just getting started. Imagine the millions of people that only have Bitcoin exposure through ETFs. Imagine all the new funds they are being added to.. patience..

If you happen to be in the US, have a look at Unchained’s IRA product. I’m rolling in a Fidelity IRA and others.

I looked to see if it could be done in mine it was not possible as the company 401k is severely limited to slave banking funds

Some allow you to create and connect a ‘brokerage acct’, it wouldn’t be in the usual options.

But, I imagine one cannot shift 401k funds to the ETFs

They can, if their ETF provider lets them connect to a brokerage acct, or often transfer to an IRA. It’s a few extra steps and many don’t have the option. A friend had to transfer it completely out to an IRA.

Unchained has a self directed 401k product. Multisig you hold the keys.

Shawn mentioned that also, let me check 🤙

Check swan too. Casa is kind of pricey from what I recall. Unchained is $250 usd per year custodian charge.

750 setup fee

Can’t roll into iTrustCapital IRA for BTC?

If I role it out of my 401k into an IRA I suppose yes, but keeping it Fidelity, this was the only way.

I cashed it out and took the blow fee, bought bitcoin when it was at 20k ish, felt wrong short term but time did its thing.

Gotta say, my 401k was like 4 thousand 🤣 so not a lot of pressure

That’s one way to do it!

ETFs in a 401k aren’t such a bad option granted you think USD will be used in a few decades (I do). Also a good (straightforward tax way) short term option to get more cash as long as cash is needed to buy something you need.

I buy BITB because they’re more “on the mission”, donating to open source development and publicizing their address

I gotta do the same, can’t switch to another 401k, and if I don’t use it, the state steals more of my money

Good way to get a couple extra coins worth with money you already have 👌🏼
