Anyone who says Bitcoin is like digital gold doesn't know anything about Bitcoin
It is nothing like gold, literally not a single property
When you can ship a 1000lbs of gold through the Internet with no intermediary using cryptography, I'll shut up

Your logic is flawed but I agree with the sentiment
and the supply of gold, even if you include all existing gold, known or unknown, in the universe, is still not fixed. with enough energy new gold atoms can be made
Yeah but what is the value of a bit coin of you can't buy gold with it. No one asks themselves the question wtf is a bitcoin. If you were on an Island with 20 people and you sold a cow for a bitcoin what could you do with it? What would you have gained in reality? Same can't be said about gold which is a real object that exists in reality.
I could use the Bitcoin to buy something else from someone else? The same thing I'd do with a gold coin
Thankfully we don't live on an island with 20 people so the entire premise is retarded anyway
Yeah, and Email is nothing like paper mail, they should call THAT something else TOO! I mean who needs a sociological analogy to create familiarization for a completely novel concept? Let's just go with the new thing and not worry about wide spread adoption through physical analogues!
“Saying bitcoin is digital gold is like saying the internet is a fancy telephone” -Andreas
Yeah, as silly as that is, that's how adoption works. First it's "fax but better," then with more technical adoption, you get more accurate analogies. It's about bringing the laymen to you not standing still and calling them idiots for bot being where you are.
Bitcoin is Bitcoin.
"Digital gold" is a narrative that pigeonholes the Bitcoin network into a neutered fiat instrument. To be fair, "unstoppable message protocol" doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely
