V4V isn't anything new in the performing industry. Performers held out a hat for coins since the beginning of time. It's probably why it's an easy concept to adopt for them.

Etymology is the most interesting part of language for me.
One of my favorite little observations is the Chinese symbol 意　compared to the greek word episteme. The components of the Chinese symbol are essentially standing on an illuminated heart and episteme means to take a stand [on something] like to know a thing. Totally different origins for conceptual meaning but instantiated in the same physical concepts.
