The more you know, etymology maxin’

Etymology is the most interesting part of language for me.

One of my favorite little observations is the Chinese symbol 意 compared to the greek word episteme. The components of the Chinese symbol are essentially standing on an illuminated heart and episteme means to take a stand [on something] like to know a thing. Totally different origins for conceptual meaning but instantiated in the same physical concepts.
