GM. I use it, and it’s the same as any other chat platform, not your key not your data. So don’t discuss anything that you wouldn’t mind seeing on the front page of newspaper 🐶🐾🫂☕️

I use it and have been trying to move away, but still couldn't find a better alternative for group chats.
SimpleX is good for 1-1, maybe Signal as well. But SimpleX allows hosting own servers.
Hope Nostr based chat apps create more and more great features so we can move there asap 💜 will check out 0xChat, still haven’t!

I mostly use it to get news from sources that are much more local to news as it happens. I'm in a few group chays, too. It scales much better than most other more private chat systems, too, but you do take the risks others have mentioned.
Main criticism imo about TG is it’s pseudo privacy. Ie, nothing compared to Signal or nostr:npub1exv22uulqnmlluszc4yk92jhs2e5ajcs6mu3t00a6avzjcalj9csm7d828 .Forgetting that, people use it and especially like TG’s group abilities, sometimes serving thousands of people simultaneously.

It’s relatively centralized and the groups are NOT P2P, they are server based.
Messaging also doesnt default to P2P, you have to initiate secret chats for that.
There are also concerns about the encryption tech being “roll your own”
Assume every group has feds in it.
