Do your best not to tell anyone how well you're doing off Bitcoin, even family

Your cousin might go to some party and be like 'yeah my cousin is huge into Bitcoin!' not realizing how it endangers you

Probably safer to talk about as a nym on nostr than with friends and family in real life tbh

Solid reminder.

True that. A lot of times I have to close my mouth in public talking about Bitcoin.

I'll be telling them that I bought high and sold low 👀

That’s a good idea. I’m going to also say I bought the ETF

Even better idea haha

Good advice

Is there a way to make it unsafe to talk about on nostr too lol ;) 🤞🤞🤞

It already is

No where is safe. Let's all start posting dungeon synth instead

Lmao i miss those posts chill vibes

💯. Bad opsec to talk about your Bitcoin holdings.

Better to talk about your boating accident

Have fun playing with your bitcoins with your internoster frens

Some crypto-fluencer got killed in Montreal earlier this fall.

Be humble.

That's amazing

🤣

Who said sports are a waste of time 😂

Stories of ship wreckages; rekts and pwns, could help ashore the targeting.

Otherwise go bet all in and be the satoshi of your neighborhood 🔥.

Talk about technical analysis, they’ll run away

Yep keep your mouth shut

I say this all the time shut the fuck up IRL about your stack, you never know who is listening will put a gun to your head or a gun to your loved one’s head and demand you send them bitcoin. This danger grows every cycle shut the fuck up no one wants to hear about how much money you made especially if you aren’t giving them any of it

The mentally ill leftist wont care that they can’t beat your keys out of you. They don’t have to win, you just have to lose.

The wife and I just had this same conversation this morning.

But how do I avoid the topic when they're so nosy and incessantly inquiring about my face injuries?

🤣

How can you possibly do well on Bitcoin? Those that bought 1BTC at $90k today now have $90k less than they had yesterday. That's not "doing well".

nostr:npub1g7lqk25fl24xd0zh7hr8jgp5smdy2eszjh9nmv7z7w85h6xcs9hq4u8yd9 imagine you are measuring your nephew’s height. He is a healthy young lad visibly progressing well.

Your ruler uses cm or inches - whatever your preference is.

All of a sudden the international society of ruler central planners decree that today’s cm/inches are 40% smaller than yesterday’s cm/inches.

Did your nephew grow 40% in height overnight?

This is fiat central planning in a nutshell. All economic calculation is persistently and periodically rugged.

I see that fiat loses value. I can see it every day. But I can still buy "something". I can't buy anything with Bitcoin other than fiat.

Good point.

Can you buy things with Nvidia shares, real estate, or silver bars?

All investments are converted to currency accepted locally prior to consumption.

Btw on nostr:npub1864jglrrhv6alguwql9pqtmd5296nww5dpcewapmmcazk8vq4mks0tt2tq you can see density of merchants who accept

Nvidia shares get me dividends, real estate I can use for a shop or a factory or farming, silver can be turned into jewelry, cutlery, electronic things and a thousand other uses.

most people in the world don't have access to brokerage accounts or mortgages. They just need a way to save money that doesn't lose value.

How is this hard to understand?

It is apparently 🤣

Stockholm syndrome

You're confusing "use" and "value". bitcoin might have no use, but it has value. And if it has value, it can be used as investment.

But you're still wrong about "use", many activist groups could not have survived without bitcoin after they had their bank accounts closed by the states they were protesting against. Wikileaks is a prime example. And that's just the most obvious use.

Sure. Happy to talk about that.

Before we do that do you agree all your investments must be converted to your local fiat currency (I presume you are not in nostr:npub14f26g7dddy6dpltc70da3pg4e5w2p4apzzqjuugnsr2ema6e3y6s2xv7lu, Btc Ekasi, or a similar village/town)?

I agree too many questions from people made fun of you for so many years.

This is tough when you also try to advocate for it. Just orange pilling can become dangerous. If you run a podcast, YouTube channel, Btc business, the risk grows.

Be like “my bitcoin? Don’t even ask. Okay, but… you ever heard of nostr? Yeah, f*ing nostr. Was going on nostr and f*ing spent all my bitcoin just zapping f*ing people for f*ing memes. Zapping? Means sending bitcoin to anyone for no good reason. Was doing that all day. Every day! Till it was gone! Damn, you know how much I gave away?! Shit. It’s all gone now. Why’d you have to bring that up? Buy me a drink.”

Maybe I should tell everyone that I lost my ass on a bunch of shitcoins. That way I still get known as that guy in crypto but I’m not able to buy a lambo anytime soon.

Yes. Be calm. Lay low. Good luck

Are you doing well with Bitcoin? I mean, you might plan to do well. But are you using it or is it just a number on a ledger? Talking about "how well you're doing" in a fiat sense is like bragging about being early to Nvidia, or Apple (both times), or MSFT. I don't even talk to my immediate family about it like that. I talk about dreams and opportunities we're going to achieve with estimates of timelines. Isn't that what we're here for?

I'm not I lost all my BTC sadly

Oh? You have a dog, too, eh?

I think you can be a little more open on Nostr as long as you don't go to meetups where people can associate your face with your nostr identity. If you're going to go to meetups, maybe use a different identity so your primary identity isn't compromised.

How do you feel about IRL Bitcoin events and meetup?

I avoid local meetups personally, conferences a little different, nobody can follow you home

When spreading the good word about Bitcoin, I always tell people I just got into it a few months ago. That way they won't think I'm sitting on a mountain of value. It would make me very uncomfortable if the people around me thought I was Daddy Bitcoin. I'd have to beef up my personal security!
