So much of youtube is AI slop now.

Thinking about how web of trust solves this in the future.

So YT is useless now for finding new stuff?

I would not say useless. But I frequently find myself clicking on something only to be met by a chat gpt script and an AI voice over stock footage.

But perhaps this is just the transition phase where the AI content is still noticeably worse. Maybe the future is just fully embracing the technology. One day the AI versions might surpass the quality of human and YouTube might just generate a new video for every search term.

But for now it is a frequent frustration.

it's not gonna get better, the tech is what it is, and it can only improve when some math geek figures out a new thing that extends it, then it will improve a bit but it's far from being any danger ouf threatening the value of human creativity, and i seriously doubt it's even possible to replicate that without millions of years evolved biology

it's purely the fantasy of misanthropic ruling class pigs that they suddenly have the edge over us

I hope you are right.

Perhaps a bigger fear is by flooding the market with this content it threatens the average persons ability to appreciate or seek out true human creativity.

idk, i think that it may actually prompt people to learn to recognise it

Either learn or abandon.

Or someone will make an AI-slop blocker like we have adblocker.

yeah, at this point the repetitiveness of the ai generated content is like the old days of websites with stock images that are like about 100 variants on 1000s of sites

the people who have been using AI image generators will be ashamed of their behaviour in a couple of years

I guess this, as other things as well, influenced by rewards. If they dont get the rewards, or the expected outcome they pursue, they will change.

And I assume, people will learn to quickly skip videos, websites if they feel it is ai generated. As you said above.

Between the AI, the censorship, and the hostility toward ad blockers, YouTube is pretty much dead to me now.

The real current fight is Security VS Privacy

It is the new challenge to make them still exist and live together.

And for the moment a lot of people sacrifice their privacy for more security.
