We got another bioreactor built. I’m super excited about this mix. Has quite a bit of biochar, chicken coop bedding, food scrap pit mix, indigenous leaf mold, and capped with some Nicky aged wood chips.

This is awesome.

What is a good resource for building/use of a biochar reactor? I’m casually aware of them, and think my duck poop shavings could be put to better use/aid in my above ground gardens more

Last fall I built one with only hay. It turned out okay. It needed to be more consistently moist. You can really add any organic matter to them. The microbiology will “digest” the organics and in turn you receive a high quality compost.

So am I just looking at lined wire mesh with vented pipes in the middle for airflow? Keep moist, and any organic matter I add will degrade into compost? (Leaves, sticks, shavings, etc?)

Can you explain what a bioreactor is like one a five year old please? Thanks!🙏🏻

It’s essentially another method for composting. These are put together in about 30 minutes and are constantly moistened over the term of about a year. There’s lower energy effort and once done, you’ll have a very powerful compost inoculation for your soil.

Plus fungal dominant

Whats the diameter on that?

I believe it’s 4ft. I’ll have to measure it tomorrow.

It’s 4.5ft diameter by 3ft tall

Thank you Sir. I'm still chugging away at my hot compost.

I couldn’t tell how large yours was but you may need more volume

*things one dude shouldn't say to another.

Bahhahahhahaha😂😂😂☠️
