I guess I can still use an Authenticator app, but why get rid of SMS?

Sms costs money to send. Quite a bit, iirc. Why would they waste money on free users for insecure (because of sim cloning etc) auth methods? You should always use an OTP generator application on a device you control.

Costs them money and is insecure for users. It’s boomer tech 🤷‍♂️

I don’t think they care about security. The $$ tho…

*Only Twitter blue users can use *insecure* 2FA

No security for you poors.

You shouldn’t use this to begin with

I know… I paid my 10k sat repentance to #[3] March off Twitter thread. Still unfortunately need to maintain a presence for work #medtwitter

Paid mine too 🫂 Devs are going to get so many sats.

Lol

What the fuck? Only paying users are allowed to have security?

LOL!

Text-message 2FA is now for blue users only. Authenticator 2FA still works. So basically, you pay for the right to get sim-swap-hacked.

Text message 2FA is not secure.

Just the text message method, which isn’t very secure anyway.

Ladies and gentlemen, the global public square! Now with free speech or something. #[0]

Paid security,. ...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Why would they force each user to remove it themselves? Can’t they do it from their end?

It's more humiliating, that ends up in a higherconversionto Blue rate? Or perhaps it's a way of threading a loophole in a terms of service.
