my biggest frustration about politics is how many intelligent minds have been co-opted by the system. we’re meant to be independent thinkers, debating and refining ideas so the best ones rise and move our _shared_ society forward.

instead, we’re loyal to one party based on limited, distorted information meant to serve an agenda that isn’t ours. and hate those who’ve simply been fed something different. i.e, tribalism + mass manipulation.

i wonder what would happen if we turned toward each other to solve problems instead of rejecting those we perceive as being members of the opposing tribe. i bet we’d agree on far more than we realize.

Rutger Bregman also talks a lot about focusing on solving the real problems. He has an initiative about it, trying to recruit best minds to solve real problems.

We are being led by weak leaders and individuals who have been corrupted and manipulated by the same inherent flaws that have existed within us since the dawn of man. We are a dominance-based hierarchical species now transitioning into an interconnected system driven by technologies such as the internet. Within these systems, combined with ideological differences and outdated ways of thinking, we have created a scenario where people resort to pointing fingers because that is all many know how to do. A primitive behaviour & mechanism that sets up this "Us vs Them" society.

The irony is that the best path toward a more conscious society is through having more conscious individuals. Yet much of what is labelled as pseudoscientific, such as talk about energy, frequency and vibration, is often dismissed outright. Education undoubtedly remains the key, but’s its just the fact not many teachers remain.

I have family members that are so captured by one ideology, or another, that I’ve seen their faces morph into looks of suspicion if I don’t automatically cosign their opinion (let alone actually disagree on something).

I’ve taken to listening more than I talk, and when I do talk, it’s usually questions. I’ve taken the initiative to try to find points on which we agree. The goal here is to set an example in the hope that they might begin to do the same with me, then maybe others. The progress has been very slow, but the conversations have been more meaningful and I think I’ve cracked through the programming once or twice.

Very well said

This is certainly still possible at the local level, for invested communities. Something I’m very passionate about. At the regional or national level I’m not sure there’s any salvation from the digital tribalism and overwhelming focus on issues of irrelevance to the actual world in which constituents live. It’s a uniparty pantomime.

Initially, many good things would happen if free people organized themselves and separated from those who were slaves by nature. But later, as has happened throughout history, there would be carnage.
