Kid said he didn’t like the barley. Then proceeded to eat four bowls. Actions speak louder than words. #foodstr #dadstr

Not really, but making beef barley soup today. Maybe that will be a new tradition.
I feel like you had a shit 2025. I hope 2026 is better for you. Cheers bro, happy new year.
Pure, distilled pressure. If you don’t have kids you wouldn’t understand.
Happy new year to all you jazz artists. Somehow Americans perfected an odd combination of stubbornness and adaptability. I appreciate you. Stay frosty, stay flexible.
We have this one going tonight. Pretty good!

New years was always a second tier holiday. An appendage to Christmas. But, I appreciate it more now than when I was younger. Happy New Year!
I’d argue you were polite. Just not accommodating of their fear.
I’m polite af still. Just not a pushover.
I know what you mean or I got you. Save time, make connections.
I’ve made pull-apart but never in muffin form. Good idea.
“Meals my kids complain about”… I feel your pain, brother.
I like using punctuation. It’s like a language game in itself. I don’t really care about using it correctly more than I care about my words being interpreted as I mean them. So I suppose no punctuation could be a good way of achieving that angle. I don’t know though.
It is a good one. Drinking a normal beer right now actually.
Spending time implies you get something valuable in return. If you don’t spend your time, someone else will.
The more someone you don’t have a relationship with tries to gather others’ time and attention, the less you should spend on them. The more he tries to gain your attention, individually, the more you should spend on him in turn, until you understand his motivations, then adjust accordingly.
Do not listen to the “very smart” pessimists with their stats at-hand about how many resolutions fail two weeks into the year. What they don’t tell you is that failing at these is loads better than never trying.
Resolutions are an opportunity to learn something about yourself, take it.

We’re getting into New Year goals season. Here’s what I got for 2026: Stay healthy, be productive, refocus my energies closer to home.
Stay healthy: keep my baseline fitness going but improve my eating habits and flexibility some while disregarding health traps. I got sucked into health maxing a bit this past year and it was exhausting with very little perceived benefit. Less is more here in 2026.
Be productive: produce something new, tangible and appreciated once a month. Lots of ideas in 2025. Time to make some of them exist in 2026.
Refocus my energies: I spent too much time in 2025 focused on issues or people far from friends and family. I ended up having very little effect on them and little to show for my efforts. In 2026 my energy and attentions are being spent closer to home.
That’s it. These three things and I bet you I will come out of 2026 a better person for it. Cheers!

Honestly, running is one of the best ways to beat back depression.
He’s spot on. Add in the bureaucracy and the liability you are expected to take on in most (formerly) middle class, productive professions, for a salary dwarfed by those of finance bros (mostly parasites) or developers (who work for mostly parasites) or influencers (again, parasites). Simultaneously, navigating school systems rife with social contagions and substandard teaching. Then, having to eat, and feed your family, non-nutritious slop from chain restaurants, while getting a fraction of the physical activity a human should get just to maintain, because there simply isn’t enough time in the day to do any better. It’s no wonder labor participation is off a cliff. The only rational path is to go back to single income households. Sure you have to scrimp, but you also reclaim your mis-priced time and can choose how you spend it. At least then your children might have a chance.
I feel your pain, brother. But, made it through another night, everybody’s safe. Having guard dogs helps a bit.
I’m allergic to faking it. Doesn’t work well for me. But I like the message: reality follows focus.
I felt like an afternoon treat, an energy boost. So i made these little cacao bites, and they turned out very tasty. Choclatey, a little sweet, but not too sweet. Perfect. You can add or remove any ingredient to taste.
Almond butter cacao bites
1 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup chia seeds
3/4 cups cacao powder
1 tsp salt
2/3 cup almond butter
1/4 cup coconut oil
2 TBSP honey
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup raisins
Mix all dry ingredients together, then add the rest of ingredients. You can use a food processer, but i didnt. I just stirred it all very well. Then put on parchment paper one spoonful at a time, and freeze. After freezing, i put the bites in a baggie and left in the freezer until ready to eat. Again, use what you have on hand and substitute whatever you want. #foodstr #homesteading #EnergySnack https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/8d9d2b77930ee54ec3e46faf774ddd041dbb4e4aa35ad47c025884a286dd65fa/c74a5446a03fb4df72758c4b4744b49a85d859a15c4054afe48e6e851b1b0242.webp
As a kid, I used to make these with peanut butter and sell them door to door to save money. Pure profit (because mom bought the ingredients, lol)!
Don’t second guess yourself. The fact you cared about him so much is proof you made the right decision. I’ve been there, sorry you lost him.
This would be better if both had the icky-face photo.

I wonder what I’ll do with all of these strawberries? What could I possibly make? Wait, I got it!
