Well up until now it's been big pharma that has controlled the prices for the US.
How has that worked out? We're paying 10 times what anyone else is.
I don't have the answer, and I haven't taken prescriptions in 40 years, but it's either force prices lower or remove patent and legal protections from big pharma.
Or something else, and I don't know what.
But our society right now is owned by Big Pharma.
I hate government solutions as much as anyone, but it's also not helpful to say, "This won't work!"

Remove patents and copyright? Those are also government enforced which start the monopoly in the first place. Also, pretty sure the legalization of poppy farming and other plants needed for medicinal purposes would break the other monopolistic aspects of the legalized drug cartels, maybe the illegal drug cartels too.
