I like that your identity is not being kept on one instance - makes it easier to go migrate wherever you want and harder to get fucked over by an admin. I imagine this shit will be used as like the decentralised equivalent of a google account. You'll log into nostr-youtube with this and so on. Probably the future in terms of getting normies on this shit.

yeah it is very cool, i am looking forward to better clients

I kinna dislike that you have to manually follow relays though, seems like it will always be a lot more centralised than fedi is because of that.

yeah that's right. This is perfect for the fediblock retards

we'll see how it evolves.

if they don't add it, it'll always be a second-class citizen after fedi.

shucks

can't wait for #nostrblock retards to materialize out of rot and mud so I can copy their relay list and find all the cool people

so true bestie

can we not just stay on the fedi please

fedi is raped, considering you can't migrate accounts.

fuck migrating accounts

migration was always cringe anyways I hate these fucking mexicans crossing the borders

fedi is DEAD

haven't you read the articles?

true true

and you killed it

fedi found dead and raped behind a waffle house

So sad, the Fedi fanbase is dying. Repost if you're a real fed.

No.

oh, is THAT how that works? Where is your account stored though? Does every relay you're subscribed to automatically save it or is nothing saved when you migrate?

>If all the relays that you have used in the past go offline, all your posts will be unretrievable. This is one reason that Nostr allows users to connect to many relays – this ensures some degree of backup. That said, if you're really interested in being uncensorable, you can run your own personal relay.

from their website

that sounds fucking great actually

yeah its pretty neat

yeah but you've got to hope niggas will follow your self-hosted relay unlike fedi where they are forced to see your shit unless they specifically defederate you

if i'm understanding correctly

yeah. The magic of fedi is finding people through TWKN, bara won't like it here one bit

sub to many relays, make friends, ask em to follow ur relay, profit

it should be more organic

perhaps as this grows itll be more organic

i mean, you are still manually adding relays all the time...

isnt this still in its infancy? It seems similar to how xmpp handles stuff, so it getting better shouldnt be impossible

you will end up with like barely anyone seeing your posts tbh, it'll be just void posting. If only relays could federate with/follow each other that would be epic.

> not aware of the one relay all the fun people are on

> its over

😔

if there isn't already someone will make a relay list you can subscribe to and autofollow like a hosts.txt lol - which would somewhat work but it will be vulnerable to jannying

exactly and that is how we are making fun of fediblock niggas right now lol

i think relays arent supposed to talk to each other

yeah it's kinna fucked up

partially decentraised if you think about it.

cyberia federates with >10,000 instances and I cbf clicking a button that many times (currently following like 10 relays) - there's no way you can match the decentralisation of fedi with an opt-in/manual system like this

real shit, its literally impossible to achieve that by hand. You either have a "clean" persona to crawl the relay page and update your client or don't bother using it

that being said - idk the technical details of the protocol well enough but like why cant we just make relays federate with each other - even if it's as simple as you make a relay and when you make your relay follow a relay it autofollows back along with all the relays that follow it

importing a txt file could do the trick, but yeah

this is dependent on the new relay creators actually subbing to the relay list thing and then dependent again on the relay list guy not going janny-mode on who he lets stay on the list. There will likely be multiple such lists created according to jannying disputes making the whole process more difficult.

nostr is curated for crpto fags and there's not going to be this mode anytime soon

idk if it's "curated" for them per se or if the zapping feature just drew them like flies to a pile of dogshit

have you seen "paid relays" they want you to pay to use them and you have to again pay per post

lmaooooo - I think I saw that on the nostr info page for hosting your public key as a service (lol lmao) but not for just paying to sub and post on them

imagine paying to post on something almost nobody will fucking see

>public key as a service

they will turn anything into a fucking business jargon

I kinna misremembered - it's more like DNS but for your username and you pay someone to add your public key mapping to your username (or just host yourself) (or just do not fucking care)

okay makes sense with the self-hosted thing. Why the fuck would you want it to be "verified"? these people have no concept of personality

I'm guessing it's so you can actually look someone up by their username instead of their public key - inginsub better pay up his sats to become the real Nigger1488

yeah. and i heard relays are very simple tech as well so you won't have issues like when pleroma shits the bed
