I am a little suspicious of all the sudden hype towards liquid lately. Feels forced to me. Although i do like the idea of layer 2’s besides lightning
I don’t think it’s forced. Fees have been high for a while so liquid just became useful for some things. Also, nostr:npub1psm37hke2pmxzdzraqe3cjmqs28dv77da74pdx8mtn5a0vegtlas9q8970 launched their lightning/liquid swap service which made it easy and cheap to swap for channel rebalancing.

I'm not using liquid to hold long term, nor would I recommend it. As a short term solution for stacking a sizeable utxo to send on chain, I have been finding it useful though.

Phoenix fees are ridiculous, I had to quit using it after the splicing update. For lightning I have Mutiny & Zeus self custodial, and they both work well, up to my channel size. Liquid doesn't have that size limitation.
