You mean traced back to the person who I bought it from on Bisq?
So you kinda have to run a ln node with good liquidity to be able to receive a large amount of sats via robosats vs just a bitcoin node for Bisq.

No, the govt pointing at your coins and saying those were transacted using Bisq.
Maybe I'm overblowing that risk but idk.
No need to run a node
I didn’t think about that. How is that different with Robosats? What’s different for a government entitty looking at Robosats sats vs Bisq sats?
LN isn't a public ledger
You’re right. So there would be sats that have no origin (from Robosats) and sats that can be traced (like nokyc from Bisq). If the government wanted to start enforcing kyc only, wouldnt they check both of those since theyre different from kyc sats ?
I'm totally in agreement with you that I can be wrong about this - but LN is a layer of protection that is at no trade-off cost to you unless you need larger amounts than offered.
All I’m wondering is do you think it’s safe to do robosat->WoS or Phoenix and then to signing device or do I have to run an ln node to do Robosats to ln node then close channel when the amount is a big enough utxo to then send to signing device ?
Running your own shit is always better fren.
Don't let better get in your way of leaving kyc exchanges -p
Oh I’m just asking questions about it. I guess already something like Phoenix is much better and flexible than a kyc option like WoS. Running an ln node is…something 😂
I remember when the ordinoooools clogged up the mempool. That was painful
I think about this too. I also consider that there may be sellers on various "no kyc" platforms that are literal informants. In other words, if you use a KYC source of funds, cashapp, bank, whatever, the informant will be able to identify the source of funds and a subpoena could link your identity + any onchain data.
Great point.
Privacy will be imperfect - and it's less about circumventing government oversight & more about principles.
I'm not doing anything illegal - just want my privacy - which is my right.
So there’s 3 letter agencies employees on Bisq or Robosats gathering info? That’s crazy when you think of it. We’re using this because they tax us like crazy. They then use that tax money to check on what we’re doing on those privacy focused platforms. Can’t win 🥲

I agree privacy is not illegal. It's my job to think about the worst possible scenarios and I trust no one.
