26 devs have now voiced their opinion for covenant upgrades to bitcoin.

So far CTV is the only op code to not have any one left evaluating it which makes sense since it's the most mature. CTV also has the least amount of "No"s without any "Evaluating"s.

If you're a bitcoin developer and haven't voiced your opinion yet we'd really appreciate it so the community can be as informed as possible.

Soon we'll be moving on to additional stake holders.

How is OP_CAT looking?

Just behind CTV it looks like with three "No"s, followed by TXHASH and then APO.

OP_CAT is part of the great script restoration, right?

Wen sipa?

I wish, he's mostly retired.

Didn’t realize op cat was so popular wow

CTV is still the only covenant proposal that I haven't heard any compelling arguments against outside of "Bitcoin doesn't need it" or "it doesn't enable enough new things"

Doesn't "enable enough new things" sounds like a good argument for it!

Especially when considering the potential dangers of such a useless update

Hope we will see more rationales, especially for the "no" selections. IMHO, rationales are more interesting than plain statements.

What is the main argument against Sighash_apo?

From what I can tell it seems that LNhance is more efficient doing ln-symmetry then APO.

That is correct, according to reardencode's tests LNhance uses less bytes then APO.

It is too simple.

Interesting 👀

Yes, all of LNhance's opcodes including CTV currently exist on mutnitynet and inquisition.

Thank you for the reply. I appreciate what’s going into this decision and the reviews.

How long has CTV been merged? I’m a non technical but I would love for anything in consideration for mainnet Bitcoin to be stress tested for a good while. The stakes are high.

CTV has been merged to Signet and MutnityNet for years now.

Correction: The signet branch has been completed since 2020 but to date it has only been merged on mutnitynet/inquisition, not signet which is the official bitcoin core test net.

No, it is not merged on testnet, because testnet runs Bitcoin Core.

It was only merged on Inquisition, which is a Core fork ran by AJ Towns that powers the "official" signet. APO was/is also merged and operative there, as well as OP_CAT, see https://delvingbitcoin.org/t/ctv-apo-cat-activity-on-signet/1257/2

Yah here's the link to the branch that never got merged to signet yet https://github.com/JeremyRubin/bitcoin/tree/checktemplateverify-signet

What's being upgraded exactly? And why

Each one has a link to the BIP. Reading that is probably the best place to start to learn about them.

Each one of these proposals have a BIP that you can read. You can see all the features each one offers at https://utxos.org/alternatives

Genuine question, not sarcasm, why wasn’t something like this done sooner? Did folks just want to give people plenty of time to digest all options? A poll just seems so obvious it feels weird it took this long. An informal ongoing open soft poll feels like a great way to begin to gauge rough consensus.

Jeremy tried to get CTV activated in 2022 but people didn't agree with the activation method, everyone liked CTV but not the "speedy trial" activation by miners. This isn't a poll it's more of a survey and there was something like this before at https://utxos.org/signals but that was only for CTV.

🫂❤️

The good thing is that you can start using it with your client whenever you want.

Bro. Need you to hop on a video and maybe with another person to explain to my dumb ass the differences between some of the popular ones. Some of the things you and others did prior to 2017.

Just saying.. no one is doing it right now

Ok I know all these folks. Thanks!

I have started with reardencode on SLP.

And have previously listened to nostr:npub1wnlu28xrq9gv77dkevck6ws4euej4v568rlvn66gf2c428tdrptqq3n3wr but will refresh listen.

And will check the others soon after digesting the above.

Here's a no from me. All the shitcoiners seem to want it, so I don't. NACK
