Removing features that are proven to be successful is not going to get us any closer to migrating the masses off of Twitter. That’s my goal, not a #bitcoin echo chamber.

Likes and followers are a vital…
• Wanting to see a list of who follows you is not egomaniacal.
• Likes are not an evil tool of the algorithm on a decentralized social media like #nostr.
Over the years, some of my best relationships started out with a mere like. Zaps feel clunky, requiring users to open another app to approve payment — hindering quick human interaction.
Micropayments are hard enough without seamlessness… adding an OnlyZaps mode this early is premature, especially with the miscommunication between clients on the rules of OnlyZaps. People liking posts that OnlyZappers cannot see is beyond foolish.
There needs to be more universal consensus between Nostr clients. 🌐
Furthermore, almost all Zaps are custodial — making us all look like fools to everyone else watching this OnlyZaps parade from afar.
There needs to be lightning wallet integration built into Nostr clients.⚡️

I don’t understand how it’s any different than any of the other engagement interactions tho.
They’re all = attention / pay attention to me.
Imagine if after every social event you attended, you pulled up your magical notepad to see if anyone has added you as a friend to their magical notepad.
Then you check this notepad to see what kinds of things you should talk about to gain more friends.
All the while walking around in public and shouting that 100 more people just added you as a friend to their magical notepad.
If this sounds insane that’s because it is and this is how many people behave on social media.
Even if they don’t say the things out loud, it’s on their minds.
Sure but reposts zaps likes comments, etc are all stroking that ego. To me they’re basically interchangeable and therefor don’t matter. But also are the entire reason social media exists to begin with. Otherwise we’d all just be texting our friend groups, reading newspapers and calling into Loveline, no?

Id say its insecurity until a fake sense of security is built by the individual that shares content on social media. Its easily cured by realising that nothing means anything or something. Yet there are ego minutes for everyone.
