I am cooking a roast entirely off the power of the sun. Solar energy capture is so friggin rad!

We want to see it!
I don't post media to nostr until people stop using despicable services like Cloud Flare or I eventually figure out how to host my own.
They run everything you upload through CF CSAM filters, which, are a huge privacy issue. I refuse to use services like that.
What about a shareable link or something?
The issue is hosting. If the media is hosted, you can link it. That's no big deal.
I do not have a site. I don't run a relay. I don't know how to host my own stuff online.
You can use cloud. Something like this maybe? I don't know if they use cloudflare or not though...
Or this
No thanks. I eventually need to learn to host my own stuff.
Let me know if you need help, I'm quite good at this sysadmin shit.
Or at least they pay me for that so ... π
Well, are you familiar with proxmox?
I run all my stuff via proxmox. Even my umbrel is hosted in a VM on top of my proxmox btw
That's exactly what I want to do, but, can't figure out how since umbrel went and boogered up the install method.
Maybe check freedombox also. It is fairly more easy to self host certain things and it has a sharing app. Never tried it myself yet, but i hope that soon, till the end of summer or so, i will.
Interesting...
Yes freedombox is very interesting
So... i tried freedombox but not extensively. So far i have installed freedombox in a bootable usb stick, meaning that i installed debian in a usb stick, instead of a hard drive which is the usual case, and then followed the instructions for freedombox. Until now i have used for services within my own network and not outside of it, to the wild internet. But i noticed that you can use a freedombox subdomain to point to your implementation. I would like to use it with a dedicated hardware, but i don't have one right now and i estimate that it will take me a while to do so and use it outside my network. So... The conclusion so far is that, it is indeed easier to self host certain things this way, if you are kind of comfortable with linux, and the free subdomain is a good deal i think. Certainly interesting...
Any free web service with a free subdomain could be used directly, just upload the file using whatever control panel they give you.
If you're worried about the host spying on those viewing the images, maybe IPFS?
Sadly, self-hosted nodes take a while to be trusted by the main public gateways...
I don't know enough to do any of that without huge security risks, so I refrain entirely until I either learn enough to operate my own stuff or find something that doesn't use services that I find abhorrent.
You COULD do everything from inside a Whonix "workstation" VM. No matter how badly you screw up, the most you can leave is a Tor exit IP and a (generic) Whonix browser fingerprint.
(This assumes basic non-tech OPSEC, of course, but you got that)
(And assumes that there are no secret flaws in commonly used encryption, or if there are, that the exploits target Putin over you.)
It will be slow, if you have good internet. No real change, if you have bad.
That's still above my competence level.
I mean, bro, humility is a virtue, and one the world could use more of.
But any virtue, if taken far enough, can be a vice...
I am good at lots of stuff. I'm terrible with Linux stuff. I can't even get umbrel running. π€·ββοΈ
If the Machine Spirit reject the supplication, begin the ritual again, taking care to omit no steps needful, then press the button engraved "Enter".
If it rejecteth thy invocations for a third time, abjure it and find thee another app more pleasing.
I just don't know enough to di what I want most of the time. I don't know what I don't know, so, it's really frustrating.
We also have #solar, so I too would like to understand your setup.
1620W of panels, two MPP Solar 3048LV-MKs set to output 240V split phase, and only one 5 kWh lifepo4 diy battery pack with a JK BMS.
Now you have a conundrum, stack sats or stack more #solar panels.
You can never have enough of either.
I heave a space limit for panels currently, so I stack more sats.
Do you have an Immersun type device for automatically using your excess solar power?
That is the best thing we use.
No, not yet. I have a few layers of things to do before I get to that:
1. Set up a homeassistant instance.
2. Figure out logging BMS data to the instance to track battery state of charge.
3. Set up a relay that will be controlled by home assistant to turn on when the battery is fully charged
4. Install a DC tank heater that's compatible with "48V" systems.
5. Enjoy much less cost for hot water.
