Folks, lastest version has a bug that ignores the gray background on quotes. Meaning that we don't see the gradient anymore when going inwards (quote of a quote of a quote).
Is this better? We can keep it as is if everyone likes it.
I just realized nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z changed the color scheme of boosted post quotes to the white background color for better readability. Nice! #amythest

Noooooo
We want the gradient into the rabbit hole
Gradients are cool.
Dig the sunset.
I kinda like the gradient, but I'm a dark mode maxi anyway
Don't like the gradiend. And now that we are talking about that. I would like the background to be completely black in dark mode. Instead of dark grey.
Make it a boolean and add a UI customization settings page?
Light mode shouldn't have a gradient, I can't speak for dark mode because I don't use it.
Please keep it white, it looks terrible in light mode otherwise #grownostr #amythest
I use dark mode and it's difficult to follow the quotes. I just updated...so catching up. Thank you, Vitor!! π€π»π
The quoted notes appear as numbers in a black box. I must have done something wrong. That's what I see...
oh.. the old style of referencing inside the text.. gotta fix that
I installed from FDroid a while back. Did you remove amethyst from that repository?
They did. They claimed that our terms of service to not allow people to upload potentially criminal content makes the app not Free Software :(
For reference: https://github.com/vitorpamplona/amethyst/issues/378
Okay... now that I read it, they kinda of have a point. A rock and a hard place. Without the TOS, Google might give you a hard time. At the same time that TOS formulation is not really in the spirit of FOSS π€ Still my gut feeling is they don't like Nostr. Bitcoin "Nazis" and all. I remember FDroids draconian blockade on Gab mastodon apps.
Potentially criminal? I suppose they are still hosting Mastodon? What douchebags.
It's complicated. think about what happens when somebody uploads sex trafficking content via the app. If the app, when installed via a marketplace like F-Droid, doesn't actively forbid such behavior, whoever ships the app might be liable for "helping" them in some jurisdictions. So, right now, Amethyst includes statements to protect us against it and F-Droid claims those statements make the app not FOSS (I disagree).
I see your point.
The app developer can be liable if someone uses it to transmit illicit content? Iβve never heard of the developer of a web browser or SFTP client being sued for that.
