So WTF are we gunna do about reply guy. New npubs all the time now. Banning won't work. #asknostr #dev

I don’t see reply guy on Damus. Only on Primal.
they’re all over my damus :(
I don't log IPs on my relays, but shit like this almost makes me want to, just to see if it's coming from the same IP address.
I log IP on grain. It will be banned on my relay soon if a solution is not found. I will make it known when I do. Still only a temporary measure as that can be changed with a VPN fairly quickly
Right its only more whack-a-mole.
For half a second I was thinking that auth on relays would fix this, but I don't think that would fix it either. Even if it was free to authenticate on a relay, whoever is writing with spam bots can just have the new profile authenticate before making a new npub making that pointless.
😂 nostr protocol isn’t protected
Is this how the state takes us down? 😂

Add the string "GM, from wss" to your security filter.
Relay operators could also filter and block that string too.
Nip-42 auth prevents this

I'm sure this will be the first of many.
Mute words can be bypassed by generating random text if needed
IP address blocking really doesn't solve it, proxies, vpn etc
Keys can be generated on demand
It's just a DOS in a way as it looks like regular content.
Paid relays help but we still have freelays for now so as long as relays federate content, may be an issue due to replies.

Will you expand on this? What are you dealing with?

each one is a different account. you would have to block each one separately.
hello nostr:npub1ye5ptcxfyyxl5vjvdjar2ua3f0hynkjzpx552mu5snj3qmx5pzjscpknpr
i tried muting the words ReplyGuy, GM and GM, ( with a comma )
but his replies still go through ...

I don't even understand what would motivate someone to do this in the first place
