Make sure you have a power supply. If it loses power abruptly it'll jack your channels up.

Use good power, good hardware and a decent disk that isn't connected with a USB cable (hint, don't use a raspi 4) and you'll be off to a good start.

Solid advice especially that bit about using usb-attached storage, might have done that myself. Damn I guess that rules out the SD card reader in this older HP server I was thinking of using. Okay hard drives it is :)

Yeah it will be on my own metal. Might rent something maybe later, not sure. Will definitely be reporting on progress and lessons learned as I go.
