That’s my plan. Buying a well loved thinkpad. Will max out the ram at 32G and a 2T drive then go with a light Debian or mint OS. Should be a good setup for my first node

I just built a NUC11 barebones with 32GB RAM and 4TB storage running Unbutu to run a node/server on. Also have a Mac Mini M2 running Bitcoin Core inspired by @jack. I think I might have an addiction.

Thinkpads are a little overpriced and overhyped atm IMO.

Take a look at Thinkcentres and HP Elite Desks on ebay if you're comfortable working through a command line.

Not if it’s 10 years old 😉

I’ll take a look at those if my bid falls through. Thanks for the advice!

That’s right. The X220s and T420s are insanely good buys and can security hardened really well

This was my first hard drive. My Commodore 64. 64k of ram and a cassette tape for storage. 1983. My how far we have come

I'm using refinished Dell Optiplex for my node, 16GB ram, 1 TB hard drive.

*refurbished

My thinkpad got sniped.

Spied a HP Elite 8300. It looks like I can install 2 SSD so I can put the node on one side and general use on the other. Thanks again for the advice

How loud are the fans on these?

Nice! I’ve got an old thinkpad with swappable optical drive… there are third party adaptors that let you add a second 2.5" drive in that slot, so you can do 2x internal drives which is nice.
