I meant squat, snatch, clean, jerk, press, etc.
Actual weightlifting, not pretend machine lifting.
I do a mix of Machines and barbell stuff. Depends on the exercise. It all promotes hypertrophy. There’s nothing pretend about using a machine.
Fiat has people confusing sports/skills like weightlifting with resistance training. Hopefully bitcoin saves the fitness industry which is basically crypto for exercise at this point.

Yep, that’s my point. Too many people do sports and skill based exercises like weightlifting and powerlifting to achieve their body composition goals. Unless you are competing in these sports one is better off doing low skill resistance training exercises which in most cases means using machines imo.
The whole functional training thing is a scam to sell people training programs or to gain followers.

I compete locally and my previous job required a high degree physical activity that was best prepared for by doing CrossFit or similar type of exercise.
It was the first cult I joined before ₿itcoin.
No beef with Crossfit the sport, love watching it. Check out Jay Vincent and Doug Brignole, they have great content on optimizing for resistance training and looking at things from first principles.
I would also argue CrossFit socialized fitness similar to running clubs. Most people aren’t motivated on their own but if they know their friends are expecting them at class, they’ll show up. Globe-gym has some classes that might promote the same but you don’t go to a cookout with your spin-class (generally). I enjoy the social camaraderie. And if shit ever hits the fan, I’ll be glad to know people that are physically ready to dominate the world.
Agreed, I think it’s best to look at it as a sport and a less than ideal resistance training regimen imo
