Many do not understand the power of not voting.

What if only 1% voted in a democracy?

You would delegitimize the system.

In the worst case scenario, what the 1% voted for is taken as valid, uncovering the farce of modern democracy.

In the best case, the system cannot continue since it has no legitimacy and must be re-founded.

Plenty of western democracies have less than 30% turnout already and nothing ever happens.

Politicians will still think they have a moral legitimacy to rule over others and that "silent is consent" 🤡

The only case I know of with 30% is Venezuela.

I was thinking of EU parliament turnout. Everyone brushes it off as "not the main national elections" but the EU plays an ever growing part in the lives of europeans.

EU is not even a democracy anymore.

It's a blop representing no one else besides themselves.

That's pretty much every democracy

There must be something about the degrees of separation which objectively makes the EU parliament the worst out of all.

You have a point there

This doesn't include people who could vote but aren't registered, no?

Just to entertain this ideia…

I don’t believe in voting, i think it just exists to measure how deep “the people” are hallucinating

True, it's funny, I used to like saying you have no right to complain of you vote.

Older generations always said another thing

I read up on this once (US). If the voter turn out is too low then the existing "representatives" in Washington get to pick the new President. Not sure which would be worse.

Is already chosen/decided anyways imho

Who can convene and hold a constituent assembly (a convention) and adopt a constitution?

We.

Do we have to ask anyone?

No.

Can we do this at any time?

Yes.

Are these questions unconstitutional?

No. And: which constitution?

How is "not voting" powerful in a republic? Can you name an existing nation that is a democracy?

vote for nobody

Just withdraw all the excess funds from your fiat bank account

Much more immediate results
