I am seeing an increasing need for clients to begin requiring that their nostr users self host their own relays. It is not fair to push the costs onto other people when they are unable, or unwilling to pay their fair share.

Frankly I would like to do this myself. Just not entirely sure how to do this for linux and android.

We also encourage the use of localhost relays, as a backup storage and for offline Nostr-ing, but it becomes more expensive and onerous, if they need to expose a websocket or API, or host a web app.

A lot of people are also heavily-reliant on "free" services, like GitHub.

Or wetransfer, I mean is this a german thingy if its for free, then people use it ?

Oh, LOL never heard of that. Good grief.

I loath having to get software from GitHub / Gitlab due to everyone's addiction to that microsoft product.

Absolutely refuse to ever have an account there again.

Whenever I have to go into vampire territory. I bring this weapon with me to keep me safe from that evil corporation.

GitLab is actually FOSS. Totally different company.

I know it is foss, but isnt it on the microsoft payroll?

No, that's GitHub. GitLab is autonomous.

Just looked into it. Yes you are right. The ownership spread stock wise is not much better though lol.

All publicly-traded companies are similar.

Indeed.

Oh yeah forgot they were public.
