Many npubs don't seem to get that the things they're using and doing cost money NOW, so zapping someone providing services 2 sats and adding

"⚡⚡⚡That's generational wealth 😁"

in the comment just feels like we're being mocked, because the running costs are billing 10.000x-1.000.000x EVERY MONTH.

Bitcoiners have no sense of what things actually cost TODAY, and this is slowing adoption because people won't blink at spending $5 on something, but ask for 5000 satoshis and they're like,

How about, I give you 5 satoshis and you hodl it for 5 years, and then pay the bills? 🤔

I am seeing an increasing need for clients to begin requiring that their nostr users self host their own relays. It is not fair to push the costs onto other people when they are unable, or unwilling to pay their fair share.

Frankly I would like to do this myself. Just not entirely sure how to do this for linux and android.

We also encourage the use of localhost relays, as a backup storage and for offline Nostr-ing, but it becomes more expensive and onerous, if they need to expose a websocket or API, or host a web app.

This is why businesses tend to price in fiat, even if they accept Bitcoin. Fiat gives people some orientation about the appropriateness of the price.

A cheap VPS is all you need to run a relay. Support the services that make Nostr run, otherwise they will have to find other ways of funding, which in the past has led to bad results with online services, or even worse, they will disappear.

The biggest hinderence to spend and replace is the 5% premium that it costs to get sats anywhere. It's ok if only topping up zaps, but if you are buying anything serious it adds up.
