im feeling really down on America recently.

Im not personally discouraged in my life, im actually feeling quite hopeful. but im really seeing and feeling how many things are broken here.

there is only so much whataboutism you can engage in before you have admit what you see.

the thing about potential is, it doesnt exist other than as a possibility.

i talk to Him all the time, all day long.

do you think if i get more emotional about it He’ll listen more?

maybe i should starve myself and then He’ll listen. i just know it.

ill tell you what ill do..

whenever i see the lack, ill turn it into a Kingdom come request

this one exchange got me thinking about all kinds of things now.

along the lines of, “the reason you arent seeing those break throughs isnt because God isn’t listening to you, its because you don’t listen to God.”

and i wasnt really aware just how dismissively pissed off i am at the church.

Prayer isn't primarily about getting results

the word itself invites the religious to posture over each other. which is a small part of why i think the church is so retarded right now. they would rather seem pious in a controlled environment than have the relationship the Blood paid for.

no thanks.

Ill just ask my Father.

"what is that to you? You follow Me"

back to America,

the lies that we believe about ourselves and our greatness are flickering.

i keep being startled by the depth of it.

If that's how you view Christianity it's likely because you only interact with Protestants or pretend Catholics. Attend an Orthodox Divine Liturgy, just once and talk about this with the parish priest.

You may not change your mind, but at least you'll see another side of the church.

you assume i havent, speaking from the very spirit and mind i was referring to.

The best thing to re-invigorate my own patriotic fevor was living abroad. Maybe you could take a trip? Nothing like hearing other people complain about their corruption to make you realize oh we actually have systems to deal with this (it might not work well, but it's better than not dealing with it at all).

Think people are terrible and service sucks? Go order a meal at a restaurant in France and see how long it takes and how much they'll seem to hate you. Think our system is terrible? Go to Estonia or elsewhere in the Baltics where they suffered under communism for decades and they admired us for our systems (and our blue jeans!)

When I was living in Seattle it was very fashionable to hate America. I couldn't get on board. All those people were super privileged and mostly just whining about what they see on social media. They could have put in an ounce of effort and improved their lives and their communities but they didn't, because the point was the whining.

America is great not because of the potential or possibility, but because of the people who roll up their sleeves and do the work to make things better. Even when it's hard! To me, that spirit is what makes Nostr great too 💖

Sorry to write a textbook, and sorry you're having a bit of a time. Maybe see if you can take a vacation and it might help?

I've heard that the technology systems in Estonia are in some ways superior to ours

Especially their taxes, it's easy to be a digital citizen there. Here too many groups are too invested in keeping things complicated so we need to pay TurboTax etc. it's lame!

The tax system feels like a dystopian board game designed by lobbyists and enterprise software vendors. Pay a fee to file your own taxes. Pay another to e-file. Hope the glitchy, million-dollar government-contracted portal doesn’t crash, then endure identity verification hell just to get a refund—because you overpaid last year, like everyone does, by default.

The Estonians would have me tell them about our tax systems just so they could have a laugh at us. It was the best stand up comedy to them to tell them how I got in trouble with the IRS 😅

ooooh, you got in trouble? I've been lucky never to land in that pickle, but I keep my fingers crossed!

Yea it's a long story but the short version is I was 18. I thought I was being very clever. I was not, in fact, being clever at all 🤣

good cautionary tale!

Without stepping on the wrong foot here after reading all of your comments, the comment on France and Estonia is absolutely hilarious 😅 I live in Europe and am thankful for that a lot 🙏🏻 I am also thankful not having to live in the US right now. However, I do think tides might turn in the long run in favour of 🇺🇸 don’t be sad or hopeless! 👊🏻
