Looking at the state of the twitter diaspora six months after Elon Musk took over.

#[0] has a great in-depth piece that looks at where things are at.

His take on Nostr is especially important for us to understand as he is both skeptical and insightful. He looks at nostr and how it feels without getting in to any debate about Bitcoin.

What do you think? He says nostr has the most “out there” potential and that’s a lot do what draws me to it. We only get to fulfill that potential if we provide a good experience to users.

appreciate how nostr:npub1f4faufazfl4cf43c893wx5ppnlqfu4evy2shc4p9gknfe56mqelsc5f7ql says that he would "like to see all three thrive, and they can learn from each other". The best things tend to result from competition, people pushing each other, your hackathons are a perfect example. Even Twitter now considering encrypted DMs was likely influenced by nostr.

nostr:npub1mygerccwqpzyh9pvp6pv44rskv40zutkfs38t0hqhkvnwlhagp6s3psn5p has recently said in his podcasts that nostr has likely achieved a critical mass of developers that are excited to build. finding ways to continue this excitement is important. Ultimately, what really resonates with me is @ottman@minds.com point that people will flock to the place where their freedom and privacy are most respected.

Seems like a fair piece to me overall. I think he’s a bit too generous to mastodon and bluesky, and despite showing excitement for Nostr he still underplays the sheer breadth of what is possible.

Bluesky, due to being run by a single centralized entity for the near and medium term (and in the long term I wouldn’t be surprised if they turn into some overly controlling foundation), does have an advantage in UX currently. But the other side of that coin is a ton of the usual overly careful policy and legal responsibilities that are already starting to cause issues.

The article got me to try Nostr.

I like the concept better than anything I've seen.

I like that development on top of it is more open (seemingly)

Still need to feel it out
