China is now building small, affordable homes, that you can buy at Walmarts in the USA.
Buy an acre of land with some friends and put a few of these on there.
Nothing says stability like owning your own home with no loans.

I like 👍🏽
Simple living 🤙
I like the idea, but can we have them built in America, from American materials?
Yes, they're called RVs.
How people Will have kids? One only bedroom? The Young people need get ass off from bigs cities and Go for more affordable áreas in rural country . But none Will make It. Wanna get nigth life, travel, etc. ALL this with no Kids.
As a 30 year-old who already lives in a rural town, I can say that they can be deceptively expensive at times as well. The town I live in has unnecessarily expensive utility bills and we can't seem to get new people on our town council to work on fixing the issue. The upside, though, is that we have an almost nonexistent crime rate, the community pushed back against a plan to convert farmland into a business park and it's just a generally high quality of life here.
Wouldn't trade it for anything, but with the lower career opportunities and areas where they 'get you' with expenses, I do understand why people live in cities even if I never will.
Link?
"You will live in your pod and own nothing"
We used to call those campers. They were for camping.
The problem is that in many of the districts you are not allowed to install one of these. You need permission from the local government. You need permission because the government wants you to buy a house and be in debt the rest of your life.
There are trailer parks everywhere. Doesn’t seem that novel
Pretty, pretty cool
Only would consider such a thing if they were built in the USA but even then, these are only good for singles as a temporary fix. They don't look like they're made to be repaired or truly made into a HOME.
That's an unaffordable shack.
Don't let them fool you into thinking tiny overpriced living quarters are "affordable housing"
An affordable home is one you can afford that had multiple bedrooms, a kitchen, dining room, multiple bathrooms, 2-3 car garage, front yard, laundry room, back yard, shed, plus a couple other rooms such as a game room, a tv room, a library, etc.
I don’t know much about these Chinese prebuilt houses. I’m not advocating for them. But I’m not sure that the house you are describing which sounds pretty luxurious relative to modern American standards and especially historical standards needs to be what “affordable housing” is, and unless, then it is a scam of unaffordable shack. By all means have your own tastes and preferences and get the house that you love. In the 1950s as an example, typical sized families did not have more than 1 bathroom, did not have a two car garage, game room, or a library room. The TV was in the general living space that replaced the radio. Lots were probably larger than typical lots today. People spent less time in their houses, and they spent more time in community interactions. But the built environment was less. I challenge if a lot of what comes expected now days is really necessary.
You may be right. It probably is a little more luxurious than modern American standards.
I just described a typical Utah middle class home.
We do have larger homes than the average American home, probably more out of necessity because we have larger families. The Utah new build home was about 2400 sq. ft. bigger than the average American home, but they have been shrinking lately.
You can get a used RV in decent shape for a couple grand (in USD, so expect that number to go up). Why buy this strange thing? Made to look like luxury but really it's plastic and waiting to fall apart, just like everything brand new.
If you buy used or do it yourself, you get things at the cost of their marginal utility. You keep capital flowing between people around you.
Nice home.... I like it!
I guess all the kids sleep in the closet?
You can buy one just for them. So you sleep in peace
When you forget to pay your property tax, the county sheriffs can just tow them to an impound lot. Easier on them too
Tiny homes are fiat. Accepting tiny houses is accepting shrinkflation in homes
So what? You get what you can afford.
People need a dry warm place to sleep, hang out when the weather is bad, they need a place to cook and store food, and they need a hygienic way to shit and shower. You won't find true contentment until you've experienced what it's like to have everything you need and not one thing more. People that need large indoor spaces for comfort are decadent and unhealthy.
like ive been saying for a few years…
this generation is about to discover the deep corruption of the County Code Compliance office.
this innocent optimism hasn’t encountered the County Code Compliance office.
Ah, isn’t this what’s called a camper? Next, they’ll be glorifying tent life.
In my day (1976) you could buy a “mobile home” if you had a factory job. Bought a used one from a buddy to get his ex-girlfriend out for $2200 @19 yrs old. Yep, I was what is now called “trailer trash.” The next year, I bought a new ‘77 Pontiac Sunbird for $3600. I worked in a foundry as a caster’s helper.
能有这样的一个房车出去浪个一年半载,该有多舒服啊!😄😄
Or slap a few on your existing acreage & set up some AirB&B spots
Looks like 90% plastic.
Not to mention structures like this aren’t considered permanent and not taxable
This looks already way better than my rooms 🫠
They've reinvented trailer park homes, guys.
ripoff of American RV
Bitcoiner, probably.
If I was 19 and didn't have a pot to piss in, I might consider buying one of these.
