Keto + intermittent fasting (18/6) update:

Since June 2nd:

* 154 lbs -> 140.5 lbs

* 20% body fat -> 14.5%

Amazing. My stack of too-tight-for-comfort t-shirts now fit perfectly!

(I gotta get better about not yo-yo-ing throughout the year. If you see me at a conf or meetup looking heavier, you 100% can just say, "bro, get back on keto!")

Been doing IF for years. Just a thing to keep in might: once you start eating like before again, your weight might explode very quickly.

Body just becomes a lot more efficient at extracting energy from food.

I realized that I've been pretty close to 18/6 for the last few years, but being very loose w/evening snacking. So it wasn't a big shift. So even if I loosen up the rigor, I don't think my eating habits would dramatically shift.

I didn't like my 20/4 experiment. But I've been noticing that I'm not super hungry for my second meal, so thinking of replacing it with just an easy keto-friendly snack (cheese, almonds, etc). Would be kind of nice to have ~45min of my evening back by not spending time cooking and eating.

I’ll remind you every BitDevs

Heh, exactly the crowd of lovable complete assholes to help keep me in line!

I did it for general health and convenience for a while. Amazing how you can just get used to not eating for such long periods of time. If you’re into coffee and prefer it with some additions, try a bulletproof recipe: https://www.bulletproof.com/recipes/bulletproof-diet-recipes/bulletproof-coffee-recipe/

I'm pretty close to a stripped-down bulletproof AM coffee:

* 1 tsp coconut oil

* 2 tsps monk fruit sweetener

Since starting the intermittent fasting, I cut out the cream that, honestly, had always been my favorite part. Really surprised that I don't really miss it now. For some reason the cream felt too much like cheating on the fast, even though the coconut oil is obv high calorie, too.

I've also tried mixing in mushroom blends in the past and even mostly enjoyed the flavor, but can't say there was any noticeable benefit.

Yeah I just do the coconut oil usually. I’ll have to try the monk fruit sweetener

Congrats!

The yoyo challenge is real. I also have a stack of t-shirts,l that I’d like to fit better…
