I was at deer camp with my cousin and he was drinking warm chicken broth in the mornings. I read a little bit about it and sounds like it’s got good nutrients in it. A lot of sodium though.

Anyone else do this? I actually quite like it, especially in the evenings. #foodstr

I love broth, and homemade broth is full of nutrients.

Homemade chicken noodle soup with homemade broth. It’s the go to meal to get healthy in winter. Plus the boiled chicken meat makes for juicy sandwiches.

Yea! The chicken necks and feet give you great collagen content, but the frames are good too.

You can make your own in the crockpot and moderate how much salt you add. Bay leaf, herbs and veggie scraps for more flavor

What’s the easiest way to do this? Just buy a rotisserie chicken, eat most of the meat, then throw it in the crockpot?

You can buy 1 or 2 pound packs of feet and necks from local farmers (look for chicken sellers at the farmers market). Most of them will sell frames as well. Or buy a whole bird and roast it, saving all the bones for stock.

The rotisserie chickens are raised on less than ideal feed and conditions so that’s not really the nutrition you’re looking for. But that’s just my 2 sats

I try to do it. Especialy when I am ill, I drink hot broth with garlic and raw yolk. 👌

Sodium isn’t the enemy we were told it was, neither is fat. Go get you a cup of broth!

Yeah it certainly seems like it’s been seriously unfairly demonized. Especially for a nutrient that is necessary for life. But there is probably a level of sodium intake that, when consistently kept above, is suboptimal. But maybe not? I haven’t gone down that rabbit hole.

I’ve not fully gone down the sodium rabbit hole either, it’s on my to do list though
