Lately I've been getting catchas evrytime I go to watch a youtube on my phone. Sometimes I forget to turn on the VPN after resetting the phonev and I don't get them.

Google knows that's not my IP and it's trying to force my arm into not using the VPN to watch youtube, by making the UX suck. They can GFY

Hmm... never heard of it. How does it work? Is it just fetching the content from yt and serving it to a different front? I know some of the content I'm watching is only being live streamed there.

There's a small gratification to using YT, blocking their ads, and not giving them my IP, but I coulg forgo the "eat dick, bitch" feeling for a better UX 😅

I'm using pipepipe, a fork of newpipe, its working better than newpipe for me

Out of curiosity, what has it got better?

🤔

Fancy stuff. But also is better maintained https://github.com/InfinityLoop1308/PipePipe

Nice, thank you!

And I'm seeing it's also available in nostr:nprofile1qqs83nn04fezvsu89p8xg7axjwye2u67errat3dx2um725fs7qnrqlgzqtdq0 !

Cool! 😎

Using it rn. It works fine but I still need to refresh the VPN IP every now and then because they block it

I took a look, but it seems to have just have more fiddly knobs and some additional obscure sources. What am I missing?

Nothing, that's it, but is better maintained, which was the reason I started using it, because yt was becoming so annoying and pipepipe handled it better

Good to know. Thanks.

Pipepipe is better.

Yes i use pipepipe, but newpipe is also awesome

YT blocked me recently for using a VPN. Between that and not being able to watch a video unless I'm signed in it's getting frustrating. Love NewPipe!

NewPipe is so much better!

I use opera with ad blocking and that's fine. Chrome with the yt adblock is fine. I'm getting ready to leave YouTube and migrate away from gmail. I've just had enough.

I use Brave with adblock. The problem isn't the browser though, is the VPN. They keep trying to get my real IP, and sometimes blovking the VPNs IP
