The only thing I didn't like about the documentary was the analogy with email.

email is a very centralized protocol.

I haven't watched the documentary yet but email used to be decentralized. We can use it as a reference to see where things are going in nostr if we make the wrong choices

It’s the only analogy that worked for me 💜 and it took nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s two years + to even get to that point with me lol. Protocols are not common knowledge folks! Haha. But now I love them #protocols

I usually use the languages analogy. Any two apps that speak “French” can work together.

To me the correlation is more 1:1 - only certain people can build roads, but anyone can learn a language.

But I think he got his point across, and from your review that seems correct.

I want to build email on nostr (async comms with inline replies) and i feel we can use the gossip model and steal lots of ideas (to,cc) and make email decentralized again.

Small relays as mailing lists that you address directly . Would be so much better than running mailman.
