The govt has done such horrific damage to the healthcare and insurance industries that there is an entirely alternative industry of ā€œunapprovedā€ medical professionals and ā€œinsurance as crowd fundingā€ being built from the ground up simply to escape the leviathan of insurance/establishment insanity.

We won’t fix the idiocy it created, but in a sly roundabout way we will get honest, sensible care and disaster protection by avoiding their system altogether.

I have left it and will never look back. It’s little different than fiat vs bitcoin in my mind. Going back is so idiotic that I chuckle in horror at the thought of even entertaining it.

She’s the Toms shoes of Electricity.

I don’t know what ā€œTom’s shoesā€ is but I have faith this was a funny reference šŸ˜†

Tom's were previously known as alpargatas, from Argentina. Its a slip in canvas shoe/loafer. Used to cost .25 cents a pair and now they are $50. Because Tom's saw an untapped market and tied a cause to the product, gifting a pair of "toms" for every purchase to someone in need; or something like that.

The difference is Tom’s Shoes was an opt-in with choice and autonomy of individuals respected.

These charges on core utilities is forced socialism without consent.

Essentially enshittifi-socialism-ication

What sucks is, I cant get the damn things for any cheaper then 30 dollars now because Tom's upped the market price. Unless I get an Argentinian friend to send me some, of course.

I want purple ones for obvious reasons.

Ask Melei on X to send you a container of Purple ones. he might do it

I dont have socials other than nostr šŸ˜—

I do but I don’t use them because they keep putting me in timeout or they’re surveillance capitalism,so I only use this now.

Isn't it a bitch? You would think you had free speech.

Ahh yes, getting suspended on the free speech platform for saying something that’s not even that spicy. It would have been allowed to stay in the youtube comments which is notorious for ghosting people.

I may want a pair... but only if it's eggplant deep purple.

There’s always getting them in white and dying them.

That is smartmmm depending on the sole material maybe. It's been years since I've worn toms... I liked them. I remember the size was particular though. Might have been a 7.5.

Even if that turns purple it’ll probably rub off after a few walks which I guess is fine. If you’re really gonna customize it I’m sure one of the people that makes the custom hypebeast sneakers can add purple soles for you.

I feel ya.

Trying to process that last string of a word...

It admittedly wasn’t the most elegant way to use stick socialism into that word. I saw you were using Cyrillic in that post about your mom. Is English your second language?

Yep.

Lmao I posted the wrong video šŸ˜‚

It was one about a patient charged over $1000 with insurance and had a $270 copay, when the ā€œno insurance priceā€ of the very same work was only $44.

Now I can’t find it and am wondering if I even remembered to save it. But this video just shows they are doing the same thing to energy provision… which is a terrible omen for our future unless we find a solution to that as well.

I have a friend who is two Bitcoin memes - selling couches for Bitcoin and the current scenario you're speaking of.

Was given a price for some health events, then realized he hadn't given them his insurance card. Once he did, his cost went UP. More people need to realize how much of a scam insurance is.

Dang

As a person from Europe the health care industry in the US makes the impression as if it was designed to scare people away from any free market health care

It’s the pharma/insurance/govt complex. There is nothing that resembles a free market. 98% corruption. If patients just paid their doctors and surgeons we wouldn’t have a problem at all.

I try to explain that to people. Most only reply: "No, it's capitalism"

I'd like to know how many KWH she used that month

Nevermind, I looked at it through a mirror. Its from LAST December, and they used 2636 KWH, an average of 3500 watts continuously over the month. That's around than $0.07 per KWH which is dirt cheap. I pay around $0.13. All the other fees are excessive though.

Yep, 3.5 kwh every single hour over a month is almost a small factory consumption. I guess they are using electric heaters, and have set the thermostats to a high temperature threshold (or a btc mining facility...) They should address that point first.

Anyhow, the subsidy fee is insane.

nostr:npub1h8nk2346qezka5cpm8jjh3yl5j88pf4ly2ptu7s6uu55wcfqy0wq36rpev, you guys on Crowd Health?

Yup. For like 4 or 5 years now probably and the birth of both children.

I think I’m going to finally do that for my fam in 2026. Health insurance is such a racket. You have a referral code for Crowd Health yet? I don’t think I’ve ever heard you use them as a sponsor on the podcast. If not, I’ll use Marty’s or Saif’s.

I think I have a referral though that I just forget to share, lol.

Yup found it:

Stop complaining and do something

a. I just explained that I was using an entirely different system and have left the traditional insurance industry.

b. You can kindly gfy.

Not enough

What is enough? Whining as you accuse VERY active productive people of doing nothing but whining? What an utterly useless dick.

One thing I’m seeing is the crowd funded ones are all starting with a majority of young healthy people - that shit is going to flip someday and we’ll see how that goes when shit gets real for those first set of cohorts.

The crowdfunding model is actually how it was pre insurance. It was through churches and things like that. We’re kinda just reverting. If they decide to recruit doctors and hospitals that will take cash payouts they could realistically make it work long term. It’s weird that the only thing in the market that doesn’t show you the price of things until after they’ve already given it to you.

Was about to say this. It was actually the model pre insurance era and was essentially how insurance began. It’s still the best model and only migrated into today’s bloated insanity due to the explicit bureaucratic menace and middlemanning its tentacles into every aspect of basic medical care.

In other words, I can’t see any way it becomes as disastrous as the current system… unless it just ties back into the current system. Otherwise it’s a far better, more direct, an cheaper model for care.

ā€œin other words, I can’t see any way it becomes as disastrous as the current system… unless it just ties back into the current system.ā€

I wonder if the ā€œties backā€ part is just the human nature part where all systems of any size start to grift rot as they grow big enough. I hope bitcoin is the incentive that can keep it on the success rails though.

The grift is so entrenched in the system it’s gonna be hard. Good intentions turn into horrible outcomes so fast.
