WTF IS GOING ON IN EL SALVDOR?

WELL! Let me try to explain 💜

I've been visiting for 3 years now and its evolution is staggering... and shocking.

Solid video, Joe! I spent some time in El Zonte in January before Plan B and was intrigued by how some locals were opposed to Bitcoin. My first experience upon arriving was a bit of a downer when my hostel owner would only accept Bitcoin with a 10% fee added, and told me locals don't use it, it's just a tourist thing. I later learned this isn't the case.

I did enjoy the freedom though of being able to only go to stores and restaurants that accepted Bitcoin. I walked immediately out of a few when they told me they didn't accept it. It was awesome being able to have that choice to make.

Also, shout-out to the hardware store and Ronny, great guy!

Really enjoyed this short video. I'm not surprised that the adoption is slow. From Jack Maller's tears to this. Not a lot has changed. What do you expect when Mallers is now a banker and many "bitcoiners" are disciples of Saylor, a man that clearly demonstrates he is a fiat maximalist.

I have mixed feelings for the locals. Being a cockney boy, I have seen London change colour many times over the last 50 years. It has gone from white to black to brown and back again. Our house prices have not just sky rocketed (is that even an expression?) they are now in another galaxy. It is just about impossible to be working class and live here.

Thanks Joe for this, hopefully it will encourage more to really study Bitcoin and why a circular economy is a must. Maybe if Bitcoin companies only paid wages in Bitcoin it would help?

Does already sewage system exist in El Zonte?

I can tell in Mexico things like this happens too (not BTC related), but boom related...like Tulum! Prices exploded, bad electricity supply, almost no sewage system...Lots of pollution and destruction :( And the worst: CRIME!!! and yes, also more wealth...more tourism, etc...

Looking forward

Thanks Joe🙏🏿

Good video. This kind of development is exactly what we should expect.

Bottom-up adoption of #Bitcoin is a long, generational process. El Salvador, however, represents a unique case — a top-down experiment in what could be called a #Bitcoindollar system.

Real estate prices rising, gentrification — these are common side effects when wealth (whether in fiat or bitcoin) flows rapidly into a country. But El Salvador has two distinct advantages:

1. Bitcoin as a platform for sustainable development.

We’re already seeing this in initiatives like tech education programs for kids, and Bitcoin-native companies (like Tether) relocating to El Salvador. It’s not hard to imagine the country positioning itself as the future LATAM financial hub for the Bitcoindollar economy — potentially outpacing traditional players like Panama 🇵🇦 .

2. Strategic Bitcoin Reserves.

Unlike passive asset accumulation, 🇸🇻 El Salvador’s bitcoin treasury gives the government a unique tool. If used wisely, it could fund infrastructure projects that directly benefit the broader population — not just asset holders. Rising real estate prices may enrich a few, but strategic investment can raise living standards for many.

The hope is that, in a few years, “Mama Rosa” has expanded her store, hired staff, improved her home, and lifted her family’s quality of life. #Bitcoin is the tool — but the outcome depends on the political will to use it for the benefit of the Salvadoran people.

Let’s hope President Bukele follows through.

i have been in el zonte this year to but only 3 nights

its a very nice place to live

Great job Joe 🤟🏴‍☠️😉 as always elsewhere. Rest because it deserves your video 🇸🇻

Winners and losers? No. You're channeling Marx my friend.

Using el Salvador to promote Bitcoin makes it seem like bitcoiners are a bunch of terrorists and child sex traffickers and slavers and whatever else.

There has gotta be a country that's adopting Bitcoin that isn't completely corrupt with evil sadistic zionist scum in charge
