Discrimination is a real issue. It sucks.

Most people complain about it when they are discriminated against. And to some extent, they should. They should tell their networks about people who are bad actors.

But you know what you should do most importantly? Be so fucking good at your job that nobody with a right mind can resist hiring you.

That's what. Pursue excellence.

If free markets truly work, companies who discriminate should in the long run get crushed by companies who select the very best talent?

Or is this libertarian propaganda? 🤔

It could take some time, but yeah.

If there are super high quality free agents, businesses would be disadvantaged if they don't' hire them. It doesn't matter their gender or race or sexual orientation/identity. Me and many others would try to scoop them up.

Sovereign individuals?

There are many western countries with a severe lack of talent in their job market, a dire need of high-skilled workers, and an aging population for the decades to come, which rely heavily on attracting educated immigrants.

Being so good that nobody can say no to you is great from a personal perspective but from a societal one, I don't think waiting 100 years for the market to fix racism is is an option.

what do you think will fix it ? government welfare schemes such as tax breaks and free childcare etc programs to increase the birth rates ?

I don't know, but many western countries are on a downward-spiralling path caught up between protecting their own people and keeping up the age pyramid that's baked into their social contracts.

Protecting their own people? What West are you talking about?

💯

Not arguing against anything you said btw. Read your OP and I agree with it, just adding another perspective. Personally, there is nothing you can do other than to be the best in your field.

when your money gets stolen and spent by the government there is no free market

money is the ultimate incentive, always has been

Discrimination cuts both ways

You set such an amazing example of this for us all to see. 🧡

More need to hear this

That is so much right on tack. I have seen this so much in life 🫡

It's true in itself but the problem is the way it hits the distribution curve. The very best will always win and the very worst will always lose, even if they're in opposite facing groups.

The problem is the middle. If one group is discriminated against, the middle of that group will be hit hardest, much worse than the middle of the group with the advantage.

Meritocracy or disintegration

I’ve been reading Atlas Shrugged and I’m pretty sure you’re the reincarnation of Dagny Taggart.

Yeah but too much politics for that to work in practice unfortunately

True true but hate begates hate and resisting that is hard

Begets*

Fuck companies who discriminate, I don’t want to work for them. I’ll go find another company or just start my own.

“The inner ring” by c s Lewis is a must read

Discrimination is one of those confusing concepts that drives us all crazy.

It is something negative when it is an illegal act of the government or a public power, since it is an attack against the principle of equality before the law.

Yet, when we speak of discrimination between private people we tend to miss the simple fact that we all do it, all the time.

We all discriminate when we choose our friends or our partner, when we apply for an specific post, when we hire a worker, when we decide to have a tuna sandwich, when we cheer on our favourite team, when we buy a book, when we marry or when we decide to spend a week in Brazil and not in Canada.

And we do it according to criteria of beauty, race, culture, kindness, money, intelligence, etc and other very "selfish" reasons.

We all do it every day and it is our right (without prejudice to the fact that by doing so we could be maybe a stupid or a bad person in some cases).

So, discriminating CV with picture or discriminating interview for a job ?? ...yeah !! isn't that the main function of a CV or an interview ? .... to discriminate !!

be so good that those with the right mind, will want to be hired by you.
