Might be time to go Linux and Graphene soon.

Graphene is the only way I think.

Yeah, might be a good idea to switch BEFORE it all goes to shit πŸ˜…

Some good deals on the older Pixel models right now

decent condition pixel 6's going for 100Β£ in the uk

It’s always good to go to Linux

Yup. Definitely.

why so late thinking ?

Things just work more smoothly in the Apple ecosystem when your phone and PC are Apple devices. Plus, kids acc management for reasons I stated before.

I give my kids DeGoogled, locked down Graphene phones. They are a pain to manage, but I'm willing to fight the fight to keep their data private, and only on our family server.

Going to Linux and Graphene would be a huge inconvenience to me. A waste of time to manage and that’s not something I take lightly.

best buy cheap android - keep one main phone as -is

i saw last one guy 4 phones in hand walking to supermarket

as-is as honeypot - install all stuff on another hardened phone apk raw

I already have a Graphene phone but it’s not my main driver

Linux is easier to install and manage than MS Windows. Has been for years.

GrapheneOS, with your own self-hosted Nextcloud online ecosystem is a pain to set-up. You have to set every app and syncronize across all your devices, but after it's all setup, it's not so bad.

There's also librem5 and pinephone

I actually prefer npub10r8xl2njyepcw2zwv3a6dyufj4e4ajx86hz6v4ehu4gnpupxxp7stjt2p8 so Graphene is not a sacrifice.

Zapstore is nice

sum x moar choices & backuPs R apprOpO*****jic/***** /jic>

Already there with Linux (Elemental OS is so nice), srsly considering the move to Graphene... reluctant for all the UX reasons, but as the saying goes "comfort is the worst addiction."

100% agree unfortunately.

i have a linux mint laptop. i bought a used pixel 6 to try out graphene, but just too lazy, and have ended up enjoying using it with its native android os...

If it's closed source, assume the backdoors are already there

This is the way.

I recently switched from Windows to Linux entirely. Mint is a great distro, I quickly realized enough just works that theres zero reason to keep my windows install.

Some things require some tinkering as per usual, but its insane how far its come in even a pretty short amount of time

Nice! You'll never go back. Linux has great distros these days. You can do anything you need without too much faffing.

The craziest thing so far was installing a pirated repack of a windows game and having it not only run without issue, but somehow even better than Windows lol

Yup

How do you know if there is not already a back door in place?
