Rob covered it well. I’ll just add that I would teach math the same as I would teach oil painting or music. It would not be compulsory or required in any way - and would consider the maturity of the student when considering how to teach it.
Additionally, it’s not a science or a STEM subject used for vocations ends. At least not in my academy. I’m much more interested in pure math than any application.
That said - when it comes to applications, I’m biased towards cryptography but as a life skill, not a vocation.
