It was never really about the environment. It's about recreation. With all the BS explanations I've heard for why we need government IE; schools, roads, fire departments, recreation does not make the list.

The money You save in taxes could go towards proper fire suppression sprinklers in your home. Since the fire department is about the same response time as the police It really doesn't help with fire prevention any more than police stop crime.
