I’m on day six of #fasting and I feel pretty good except I’m so COLD. πŸ₯Ά

I do keep my house a bit on the chilly side but it seems like no matter what I do I can’t warm up. Is this how old people feel all the time?! πŸ˜‚

Have some hot water or decaf tea?

I have done some but good reminder. I’ll put another pot of water on πŸ«‚

You can also have a cube of bullion in hot water.

You may be interested in the book The Phoenix Protocol. It goes into the science of why you should do a dry fast instead (and explains how to hydrate without oral consumption).

I would be very interested! Thanks.

To be honest, dry fasting scares me a bit so I’d definitely want to research how to do it safely.

6 days, holy moly... Well done

Get your thyroid labs a week after you break this fast. Curious to see if it recovers.

+1 here… now I’m also curious

I dig solid quantitative data but unfortunately I don’t know my baseline. I assume it was within normal range though. Would it still be worth doing?

Yes.

What specifically would you recommend I test?

I think I found a local lab that will test Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) and Free T4 (Thyroxine). Would that cover what would be most informative?

thyroid: TSH, T3, T4, TPO

lipids: cholesterol

sex hormones + cortisol

All of these necessary to understand thyroid health.

I remember always being cold fasting, fun times. Here is a tip.

Empty all air, breathe hold, 1 in 1 out quick like 3 seconds total, breathe hold on empty again, repeat.

You will be very warm within 2 minutes. Recently used this to spend an hour outside on a dark and windy 50ish degree night in jeans and a tshirt after my kiddo stole my coat.

Good tip, thanks. I’ll try it… sitting down in case I get light headed πŸ˜…

If you have a pulse ox you can use that to make sure you won't pass out. For me at least diaghram spasms then balls and taint tingle then lightheaded. To the diaghram spasm is enough to warm up.

Stop before you sweat or it will just make you colder in the long run.
