Holy sh*t. I just watched the big short for the first time.

It gets even better on your second or third time unless you already knew all the finance stuff the first time
Itโs great
Such a good movie! ๐ฟ
Really pisses you off too lol
That movie is as rewatchable as home alone on Christmas
s/home\ alone/Trading\ Places/
FTFY.
Now you need to watch Margin Call
Agreed, those two films pair very well together ๐๐
Hello isa! Big short is the best film ever ๐๐๐๐ดโโ ๏ธโก๏ธ๐ค
Personally we enjoy that film a lot, mainly because there's not too many movies out there that talk about finance ๐ ๐ธ.
They made a movie about Liar's Poker, also by Michael Lewis, which I just found out. Back in 1999. Definitely gonna be watching that one; inspired by his time working as a bond salesman in the 1980s.
Our go to finance film is "It's a Wonderful Life" but maybe we're just old school or suckers for love films ๐!

Thoughts?
True story ๐
Everybody should watch it.
Thoughts?
Just dont danceโฆok??
big shorts are and have always
been ridiculous

Although I did really like the movie, โThe Big Shortโ

Margin Call is another good one about the crash. Different angle, slightly more fictionalized, but just barely.
That movie taught everyone what derivatives were. In 2008 they were on the news everywhere and it seems silly now to think back to how few people had the foggiest idea of what the word meant in an investing context, given that we have options traders on Robinhood Yoloing stimi checks. Though CDO's and CDS's are at least a little more opaque still, never mind things like interest rate swaps, forex swaps, and currency swaps.
Financialization schemes run almost as deep as HD wallets.
Also, there's a book, and I hear it's even better. If your book stack isn't too tall, also check out Liar's Poker, by the same author. I guess they made a movie about it too in 1999. Based on his experiences as a 1980's bond salesman. Dude's a gem.
Check out a movie called Rollover from the 1980s.
