I think sugar is really important for metabolic health. There are multiple reasons for this but the biggest ones are that sugar is vital for thyroid, hormones, and counteracting stress. Honey, fruit, maple syrup are my favorites. A great book regarding nutrition for metabolic health is How To Heal Your Metabolism by Kate Deering. Highly recommend.

I have also been paying more attention to my “light diet.” Prioritizing red light after sunset and minimizing blue light.

Oh yes sorry, I should have been more specific. I still consume honey and fruits, I more so meant refined sugars.

I agree with the “light diet” I need to work on this more.

Have you looked into red light therapy? Some studies show some interesting benefits.

I was trying to think of something extra I do that’s not so common, but really I think I’m doing what all “healthy” people do so nothing felt worth of noting, that is until this morning. My friend reminded me that in the US she can’t get raw milk 😵‍💫 so then I realized this is something very good that I’m doing for health. I drink unpasteurized local organic milk from grass-fed cows (free from any additives and preservatives). I also use local cream for my coffee (same farm that I buy milk from). And I buy eggs from a neighbor whos grandma has a small organic farm with free-range /pasture raised chickens.

I wish there was a good place to get raw milk near me. But there isn’t. Maybe one day I’ll meet someone that can help me out.

Are you in the US?

I am. Yes.

🥵 yeah I think there is just hard. Every time I’m in the US I ALWAYS gain weight. Clean / real food is not easy to find there.

Yes, it’s hard to eat smart here sometimes. It’s sad that you have to go out of your way to make a conscious effort and wise food choices.

This must change. It’s crazy that it’s so difficult to do something so basic

You can try getrawmilk.com to find raw milk near you

Nice! 👍 think I found one near me. I’ll go check it out this week!

Great news!

I switched to raw milk almost 2 years ago now and have not looked back. It is far superior. Unfortunately, it is not that easy to get your hands depending on which state you live. However, it seems like more states are now adopting support of raw milk. Pretty easy where I live because I can buy it from grocery stores. I like your setup though. Would be cool to source raw milk and eggs directly from local farmers.
