In fact, politics is the NBA, Formula 1, the Champions League, the Super Bowl of thieves.
Only the best of the best make it, those with the fewest scruples, those capable of trampling even their own mothers and killing their own children.

That said, everyone who votes is responsible and guilty for the theft they are subjected to.
If you leave your daughter home alone with a man you know is a rapist and rapes her, you are guilty and responsible for what happens to her.
If you leave your family at home with a psychopath who you know has committed serial murders, you are guilty and responsible for what happens to them.
Why shouldn't you be guilty and responsible for having your own money stolen if you leave it in the hands of professional thieves who you know are thieves?
Smart people ought to think further and ask: how should a political system be designed so that the incentive structures for politicians align (as much as possible) with those of the population?
If the political system is designed poorly, then of course we get incompetent/corrupt/psychopathic politicians.
