JavaScript is definitely a trigger word.
Accidentally reposted when trying to say what a sorry take. JavaScript is hated on by so called purists. It’s fucking dope for web development. Could it be better? Yeah.. but the hate is so unjust. And here you can see how irrational it is. Lol.
Typescript solves a lot of my issues with Javascript. But unless I'm doing frontend work I'm just never going to willingly choose it for my projects. I can't tell you how many times I've said "Oh this is a simple job/script, I'll just use Node" and then I inevitably find myself writing a bunch of extra bullshit to code around JS's eccentricities.
JS runs the world and I accept that. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s as popular as it is for a reason for web development, though. If I were to reach for a general language it would be goLang for most things.
Just the hate toward it reeks of “oh you use a Mac? I use Arch, actually”. Just stupid. It has its uses and it’s good for them.
