just let them know that you are biased in that case...
Good people break bad laws
I've never been called in my seven decades. My son's been called twice in his three. There must be a pattern but it's hard to see.
It's genuinely random, it is drawn from the electoral register. It is in The UK anyway, I assume it's the same in The US, where I also assume you're from?
Delay it out as far as possible
Very easy to get out of. It’s actually the scary thing about the jury system is you end up being judged by a group of your peers who were not smart enough to get out of jury duty lol.
If you flip that over you'd have to say those smart people are actually selfish. For their own convenience they left the defendant to the mercy of a pro conviction jury. That's the Devil's argument anyway.
If you get called tell em personally know the defendant and wouldn't have a non-biased judgment
Or just get out of it by telling them you can't make it because on that day you have to wash every single one of your hairs individually. I don't know. It's fairly easy to get out of. 😅
Naw, just do it. It's such an important thing to have real folks who've done real shit on a jury. Please, please get selected and pay attention. My profession is utterly broken and we need solid juries.
I guess this is just me personally, but I have a hard time participating in a justice system that I find fundamentally broken.
It's where I mine my fiat. I don't fault you for feeling that way, but only by participating can we help ameliorate further suffering until we get the new system.
That's a fair point. If and when I get called again, I might participate next time. The case my roommate participated in recently was kind of interesting and I learned some interesting shit about city security systems after the case was done.
I got called 6 months after my 18th birthday, sat through a .07 DUI trial for a guy who was out of town and didn't use a blinker. I had to convince a bunch olders through a migraine it was still technically legal and I wasn't even drinking then.
I got summoned again recently but didn't have to sit on a trial. Thank fucking shit.
I just told them that my wife is an on call first responder, and is often required to take our only vehicle at a moments notice during the day. If you go to selection, you can just express some bigoted views or biases in general or regarding the specific case.
That's why I pretend to never open mail, lol.

"Are you threatening me?!?"
Just say through this after delaying it a year. My number was high enough to be let go after six hours.
Got to see a fight and arrest through a window looking out to the various courtrooms though. 🤷
I wish you well 😂
