To Tucker's credit at least, I'll say that his opinion that the CIA created bitcoin seems to be a consistent view of his rather than for engagement.

I had a group dinner with Tucker in 2021 and talked to him person-to-person (don't ask; it just kind of came into place) and he said basically the same thing in that setting. He also asked technical details about how bitcoin could avoid capture, and was genuinely interested.

The more interesting question might be why the CIA wants people to think it is Satoshi, at least for a period of time? đź‘€

Well the DOD created the ARPANET and the NSA created SHA256, so I guess, who cares?

But real dudes created PGP and asymmetric cryptography

That is one of many concerns around who is Satoshi? Because as BTC grows in market share and adoption. The “conspiracy theories” around Satoshi will only grow. I think it hinder nations from adoption BTC. Nations could be under the impression that it’s misdirection from some 3 letter agency globally.

Many investors and institutions investing in things that do not understand. But when the collective population has a certain level of confidence in a company or product. Investors are not as hesitant to invest because the overall market believes in the product or company. But, when you do not knowing the origins of a commodity I think there is more uncertainty on whether to invest today.

The question today is if it came out that with great certainty that it was indeed a 3 letter agency. Would the public sentiment change on investing in BTC. In the short term, I think the price would drop but would it change investor behavior not to invest in BTC in the long run?

It sort of makes sense because Bitcoin often causes people to become apathetic about politics and wider society.
