Are you still using The Pirate Bay?

It was a great resource for plebs back in the day, before that it was BBSs and meetups.

Definitely.

Remove all subscriptions and DL movies/series only when you want them (when everyone starts commenting on nostr how great they are).

It was the go-to place before we had netflix and co. The whole anti piracy thing seemed insane.

I don't use it anymore, but I'm grateful that I did. Otherwise, I wouldn't have had enough background knowledge to realize bitcoin had potential when I first heard about it in 2014.

That's awesome to know. It was amazing that they managed to keep the site online despite all the attacks.

Yeah. I wasn't around in 2008, but read this quote from the Nakamoto Institute.

"Governments are good at cutting off the heads of a centrally controlled networks like Napster, but pure P2P networks like Gnutella and Tor seem to be holding their own."

I had a "Fuck The RIAA T-shirt" and a Napster T-Shirt and bumper sticker. I started using LimeWire, a Gnutella client, after the government shut it down. BitTorrent was the pinnacle of these.

Nice one. I also moved to Limewire for a while too.

Yes

Nice one. I didn't use for some time.

I have it as one of the search trackers in qbittorrent. Usually has pretty good results

Nice one, I need to check it out again. Haven't torrented in ages.

Now that a lot of people moved on to streaming, has TPB changed as well? Kinda seems like digital libraries are the new pirate content

Yes, I see you can get streaming of all apple/netflix/ Amazon etc very easily now plus huge movie libraries. All secured with encryption over VPN.

I use it regularly to download shows and movies from platforms I don't subscribe to, as well as songs and albums, especially older stuff. Still a great site.

Nice one to hear it's still going strong

use it all the time in stremio.

Nice try fed.

I just got nostalgic after the founder died.

That may be. I'm still not answering, which I will remind you is not legally an admission of guilt.

Ok. I mean using TPB wasn't a crime. They had many legal torrents too. I downloaded Linux etc.

I know. But I'm down a path with this bit, let me be.

Oh the good days! I don't use it much since streaming services have pretty much taken over. No need to download and then watch if you can watch right away. But I would probably fire it up for something I cannot find elsewhere.

Oh, there is also nostr's https://dtan.xyz/ and it needs more torrents!

Same here. It was a great resource back in the day. 😃
